Thanks to lawai'a for posting this in another thread. I thought it deserves its own thread.

If the results of tomorrow’s tests are what they should be, McCollum will return to practice in the near future and may yet play in the month of December.

That'd be very exciting if he is able to return to the court this month. Hopefully they take it easy in practice I believe it was a teammate that crushed his foot last time.

Did anyone ever hear who it was that injured CJ? I picture Barton as the one doing it, just totally out of control flying around out of no where going full speed in practice landing on teammates feet.

that's weird. just yesterday on twitter he told me he was having the xray and ct scan next week.

I think it was Barton. He pushed him or something

Can't wait for him to get out on the court, knock down some threes, and give us that added kick to blowout teams. There is definitely a role for him once he is healthy.

IMO it's going to be his mid-range game that's going to be his biggest impact. Hopefully this will bump Mo down to near spot minutes.

Odd statement, Mo has the highest midrange percentage on the team ahead of Matthews and Lillard.

Who's minutes does he take? Crabbe and Barton 's?

Lillard's. Lillard has been our backup SG. Now CJ can fill that role. Also, if Mo doesn't have it going and we need scoring off the bench, CJ can take some of Mo's minutes.

He could take some of Mo's minutes if Mo isn't playing great.

I think he may take some of Wrights minutes with Matthews playing more at the 3.

But step 1 is to get healthy and then to be productive when he is on the court. If those happen the minutes will work out. Sadly its most likely our players don't all stay healthy the whole year as they have so far, so getting CJ back will mostly give us injury protection.

Well Mo gets 25 minutes a night, W3$ gets 34, and Dame gets 36. I'm sure CJ can get 10-13 minutes right away just from cutting their minutes slightly.

If he takes 2 from Dame and 22 from Mo, he'll have a nice solid 24, which I'd probably be fine with.

:ghoti:

Exactly. This guy is a rookie and he would have needed some time to adjust if he had been healthy. The Blazers right now have the luxury to work him in slow. If an injury occurs, then they will lose that luxury. I can't see him getting more than 10 a game. But even then, where will they come from? They seem to eliminate the possibility of Earl playing with Mo. I think he takes 3-4 minutes from Mo and 3-4 minutes from Damian.

This is excellent news.

The news from the RipCityProject article is that the news from the Spears tweet is that in a day or too we'll hear the news about McCollum, which, since the doctor hasn't checked him yet, may not be excellent news.

Do you mean the news THAT the Spears tweet says the news is coming, or do you mean the news IN the Spears tweet, which is that the news is coming?

If he takes 2 from Dame and 22 from Mo,

I don't see it happening under Stotts. They bring in Mo to play PG, either next to Lillard or Matthews. When Mo is in, he is almost always the PG. CJ has not shown any PG skills to this point. Therefore, he would have to take minutes from Lillard (while Mo is on the court) or Matthews. I think HCP is correct in thinking that he will take Barton/Crabbe minutes in the short term. If he tears it up in practice, or if there is an injury then he might get more time.

I was just joking; if CJ is out there with Mo, he's just running laps cause he ain't gonna get any touches in the Moffense.

Exactly my thought. And I don't want CJ emulating Mo, either.

If CJ is cleared, then what do you want him to do? Realistically?

Stay healthy.

Oh...you said realistically... ;)

True. I'm just not sure what to do with him or where to use him. I could see if Lillard was having a bad game and you needed instant offense, maybe putting him in with Mo.

He will develop slowly. He is no Lillard. Maybe he'll help next season.
