Rumor claim on offer for Chandler

Seems like a lot at first, but our first round pick can't be THAT valuable.

The Cavs giving up 2 1st rounders for Mosgov was big overpayment. Now the Nuggets seem like they are looking for another sweetheart deal like that for all their role players. The Cavs were in a tailspin and desperate to get a center to stabilize things. They better come to their senses in the next 24 hours.

PG: Blake
SG: McCollum
SF: Chandler
PF: Leonard/Freeland
C: Kaman/Freeland

Taj Gibson, 26th pick
Jimmy Butler 30th pick
Tony Snell 20th pick
Nikola Mirotic 23rd pick

FWIW, I think draft picks are a useful way to add to your team.

#21 Nolan Smith
#22 Elliot Williams
#22 Victor Claver

Not in PDX when you aren't drafting in the lottery.

Olshey picked those guys?

The point is, we can climb into the late first/early second region of the draft fairly easily. The idea of getting a solid contributor on a cheap contract is enticing, but it should not get in the way of adding a final piece to our puzzle. Adding Chandler will put us one step closer to the WCF. I'll take that over the 26th pick in a fairly weak draft.

(FWIW, I'm not considering TRob and Barton at all be cause they're both gone this summer)

It's not just a 1st pick though, it's two players in addition.

So cap space and a 1st pick. It's not "nothing."

I like Tayshaun Prince for vet minimum better.

it's not all that much to get a quality wing player who with his contract we can bring back next yr (Wes insurance) if we want or let go and it only costs us 2 mil

Okay, if we can trade our first rounder, barton, cash and t rob for Chandler and Prince?! That's a helluva deal!

Non-lotto first-rounders haven't been in our favor.

The last decade:

Segei Monia
Joel Freeland (#30, finally showing signs of life)
Victor Claver
Elliot Williams
Nolan Smith

Man Elliot Williams was a baller until that shoulder injury. The dude couldn't catch a break. (well maybe he actually did.../rimshot). But man he could jump.

I wish he had never got injured. :( was fun to watch.

23. Wilson Chandler (2007)

What's the Blazer history with him again? I remember the Knicks offered him to us cheap. What was the offer, or is there a link to back then?

The rumored offer was Chandler for Rudy. Some here didn't like it (I loved it). For those that were opposed.... Hindsight is 20/20.

Yes, but was there a #1 required too, or was it just for Rudy. Details often don't get into articles about proposed trades.

T minus 29 hours in counting. Nitrous oxide now loading. Spectators are being cleared from the pad.

The fact that we know about the offer and it didn't happen, means Denver refused the offer and wants more.

and perhaps if they receive nothing better they will accept "if" the offer remains on the table

Portland was supposedly holding out for more from NY, though IIRC they were wanting a potential lotto pick for Rudy.

TRob + Barton + Pick is exactly what I expected. Other than perhaps swapping out Barton for Claver, or throwing in cash, they can take it or leave it. I doubt Olshey pays more.

Yes, the players who are likely gone after this season represent 'cap space', but what are we saving it for? I thought the purpose of cap space was to acquire a player. Last I checked, Chandler and Afflalo are players. Why wait?

Olshey isn't going to make a trade he doesn't like, just to make a trade.

Simpler solution... Afflolo will be cheaper due to him maybe being a rental till the end of the season. Trade for Afflolo then sign Prince. Badboom bada bing huge upgrade off the bench.

It still seems like they are holding out for the 1st round pick even for Afflalo, which means it really is not that much cheaper.

Financially barton and Trob aren't enough for Afflolo.

Afflalo apparently has the same agent as CJ and they both play SG, so the thought is that Afflalo's agent wouldn't have him re-sign with the Blazers. Chandler plays SF and has a team option for another year, hence the interest in Chandler. Chandler plays D and multiple positions. If we don't get Chandler, we're going after Prince.
