I don't drink coffee often, but if I do, I go for something more on the sweet side and less on the strong coffee taste side. I go to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

I don't drink coffee. It's one of the worst things you can put in your body.

Caffeine causes a surge in your blood sugar levels, for one thing, which is bad for your blood pressure. Caffeine also increases the production of hydrochloric acid in your stomach, and it's been linked to all sorts of reproductive problems ranging from prostate cancer to infertility problems and miscarriage.

Stay away from it if you want to be healthy.
I had a great aunt who resided in Utah and like more then a few of my relatives, lived to be 100 years old. Being interviewed by the local paper she sited "starting each day with a strong cup o Jo" to reaching that milestone... of course she was tweaking the locals

I have a single half & half/hint of sugar cappuccino produced by my Gaggia Classic every morning when I'm home and a small cup of whole bean black everywhere else. Everyone is different but for me this is one of those things I can enjoy in moderation. I do love my cup :morningtime:

STOMP

I'm thinking of getting a drip coffee again, it just takes too long for me in the AM to do a french press when I'm rushing like a chicken with my head cut off in the AM

I can't see it taking that much more time to do FP though? Unless you set everything up for the drip machine the night before.

They have single cup coffee machines, but they're spendy if you want a good one.

I'd rather have the $20 FP:)

just have a bitch of a time cleaning the ground beans at time, they clog up my garbage dispenser....the drip coffee you just throw the filter away.

I have a single cup brewer...i never use it though....dunno....maybe I should i have to buy the refills.

I just wash the grounds out down the sink. Been doing it for over a year in the same sink with no problems. I don't have a garbage disposal though.

I would take a quality coffee french pressed, over it being dripped any day of the week.

yeah, my garbage disposal is jammed up now that I was using the french press...happened in the past.

French Press is awesome...just takes maintenance.

you ought to throw the grounds in the trash if it's clogging it.

yeah, i could do that but I still have to wash it out......

paper towel, wipe out the inside into the trash. quick rinse. I wash with soap probably every three uses or so and that takes 30 seconds.

perhaps. maybe I'll start brewing again tomorrow.

I've never purchased coffee from them, outside of drinking a cup when I stop in. What do they charge per pound?

I think it was about 12.00. They have a lot of different kinds, some are really expensive!

I have no idea how much coffee costs. I don't brew enough at home to really care.

I bought some over christmas.

Fresh coffee is more important than high quality coffee. Coffee, two weeks after being roasted (if kept at room temperature in a non-airtight vessel) loses 70%-80% of its flavor. Also, you shouldn't drink any coffee within 24 hours of roasting. There are some nasty metallic-tasting compounds that need to evaporate.

If you have a Whole Foods nearby, Allegro roasts some good stuff. I'm lifelong friends with one of their chief coffee buyers and I can attest to the quality of their beans. Go to a store with a roaster, tell them you want to make your own blend and have them roast it on the spot for you. Let it sit for a day, and it will be the best coffee you ever had.

I'll check it out. I keep my coffee in the freezer, honestly at this point I can't tell the huge difference.

That's the best place to keep it. If you can vacuum seal it with a food saver, it's even better. That being said, just use it within a week to 10 days. I'm so persnickety about my coffee I have my own roaster.

Peet's NF Carmel latte... on the workdays
Peet's Espresso Forte on the weekends, with a little vanilla syrup and little carmel

At work, a Lab, we keep some stumptown in individual aliquots in the -80degree freezer. It's only used on the weekends when the coffee shop up here is closed. It's amazing how good it still tastes ~6 months after purchase.
