What would MEM want for Crowder... ?

They have no use for him

Yeah, with porter, i just dont see why chicago would move off of him. Yes, hes overpaid, but they knew that when they traded for him. If they want cap relief, they'd have been better off keeping parker around.
They still need to hit the salary floor, they have a super low payroll, and he only has 1 year beyond this. I'd live to get him, I just doubt they move him.

There was a rumor where they were exploring moving him for Wiggins, so maybe .......

Where is this rumor? Porter is a better player and on a better contract than Wiggins.

I wasn't aware of this rule but I did some research and it's not 100% true:

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2018/03/how-non-guaranteed-salaries-will-affect-trades-in-new-cba.html

I haven't done the math with regards to this trade yet but I think there is a scenario where they don't need Korver's salary to count for 7.5 million if Favors is waived or moved before the 6th (his guarantee date is the 6th as well).

Freaking CBA.
Utah was reportedly unwilling to include Favors in the Conley trade. If they need to waive him to make the trade work they wouldn't be able to re-sign him.

This pretty much for sure means that Korver's contract will have to be guaranteed for this to work.

Since the trade isn't happening until July 6th how about:

ET and a future pick for Korver and Crowder
As mentioned earlier, I wonder if them being on 2 smaller deals makes it more appealing to Memphis, where they can flip them more easily to contenders at the deadline for pieces.
At the same time, neither would fetch too much, so if it was Turner and 25, maybe Memphis bites?

That's not a rumor, though. That's the equivalent of every trade we post here, that person just writes it on a different format.

You mean like half of all rumors not written by Woj...

Not necessarily. Where they come from, and how reliable sources are is definitely up for debate. But it's one thing to have someone say sources say X,Y,Z. And another for a fan to write a column saying hey, what about these deals

Or maybe a 2020 lottery protected pick?

We add a shooter to replace Curry and a PF to replace Aminu while ditching ET and saving $3.3 million which might be enough to open up the full-MLE for Hood or Kanter (still would be really close) and we could re-sign Layman as long as it's not too expensive.

Essentially 4 first for Conley is a major haul. I wouldn't do that though. Korver is done, and Crowder isn't nearly a big enough upgrade for the 3 million savings.

Connely is a nice pick up for Utah, but keep in mind, Connely has had injury issues throughout his career. Last six seasons have been 73,70,56, 69,12 and 70 games and only 4 times (5 if you count the shortened season) out of 12 seasons has he played 74 games or more.

that true, but now load management is the trend with players. Ah, If I sign I need to have then liberty to rest when I think I need it. Mostly super stars will demand it though. Leonard, KD and maybe Conley?

Load management won't stop a lot of injuries though. All it takes is one bad situation (Nurkic, Thompson Durant etc.) and bam.

agree, but for players coming back, its a big deal now. Ask Pop!

Two sides to that and neither can really be proven. Pops has been big on sitting stars. He did it last year and lost in the first round where as a 7th seed and if he didn't do it so often might have been able to pick up a few more wins, possibly giving them a better seed and maybe improving their chance to advance.

Rubio/Mitchell/Gobert was only 3 wins worse than Dame/CJ/Nurk.

You don't think Conley is worth 3 wins? He is much better than Rubio.

He's also older and more likely to miss half the season.

I know it's a team game, it has a big effect, versus head to head, but I dunno about Dame winning the matchups handily.

Conley's teams are 13-7 over their 20 regular season matchups. In those 20, Conley shot better from the floor, much better from 3, half the turnovers. And 2 less points per game.
