Consistently awful defense

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We came out and made a couple good shots, but I didn't see the intensity on the other end defensively," coach Lenny Wilkens said. "That's where it will catch you because you're not going to make shots all night long."

The Knicks know they're at their best when their defense serves as the catalyst for their transition game on offense. But even Wilkens subscribed to the notion that the Knicks' defensive letdown in Toronto was an aberration.

Asked if they play defense only in spurts, Wilkens said, "I thought a couple games we played real well defensively. If you mean by 'spurts' that we play good defense for three or four games and then lose it, well, that's all right. Hopefully, we're going to make it more consistent.

"If we're playing defense every other night, then you've got a real problem. But they're still learning one another. That's why I tell you, 'Don't get too excited. Don't get too down.' We have a ways to go, and we know it. But we'll get there."</div>

Knicks could be picking & rolling

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">But if it really is so easy, then why do Marbury and the Knicks occasionally make things difficult for themselves? Running pick-and-rolls with Kurt Thomas is the Knicks' most efficient offensive set, and yet in Wednesday's loss to the Toronto Raptors, Thomas attempted only five shots. Six players, including Trevor Ariza and Jerome Williams, took more shots than Thomas.

When Marbury is a distributor first and a scorer second he is as unstoppable as any guard in the league. But in several losses this season Marbury has been guilty of freelancing, which inevitably dooms the Knicks. Over the last six quarters, Marbury has notched eight assists over 45 minutes while launching 23 shots.</div>

This has all been noted and discussed by the Knicks forum posters in the Raptors thread and scattered discussions in other threads. We have discussed the issue of defense on a regular basis, that's what I didn't post these articles. If anyone wants to post in here, go ahead even though this issue has been worked over for 3 days.

I advise against it, however. It may result in an argument again. And this time I will notify the admins of anything deemed inappropriate and I may also lock this thread without warning.

Knicks Analyst is right. You have made up that defense point for too long everyone is aware of it and now it seems like you're badgering the Knicks instead of making an intelligent critcism.

Sorry is this what out of place, but it seemed like some thought I was just making up the defense thing, but I'm not the only one that saw that. Also Tim Thomas said he's had family problems which have been affecting the way he's been playing.

Cousin and Sisters death, and his mom in the hospital, maybe Ariza should start till TT can get back in his flow. I will forever wonder what Isiah was thinking when he traded KVH for him, KVH is like the better version of TT, more willing, better rebounder, and they're about even in scoring, shooting, and lack of defense.

Let's not forget Mohammed was in the deal so it wasn't KVH for TT straight up. I think Mohammed was a solid aqcuisition. Isaiah Thomas was looking to get two starters for the price of one. I think he should have gotten Mohammed withiut giving up KVH. I was never really a fan of him. I guess I would have really hated him if he wasn;t a Knick. Atleast they make him good on the videogames!

Haha, yea that's true, Bender is sick in videogames too, I just play him as a SG, and no one can contest his shots, but he's good in real life too, just always injured

I like Bender though, just hope he can get it together and get on the court, can still be a good player.
