My First piece would be on Flopping. My favorite subject tbh.

Flopping 101. Why it's always the referee's fault.

I just wish they wouldn't reward James Harden. Everyone and their mother knows he's going to flop. Everyone knows that his entire game is predicated on drawing fouls. If he wasn't a star, he wouldn't be getting those calls. Mostly I blame the league for creating this environment that they play in.

We need "Campfire sessions". Just a few bros, going camping, out in the woods, drinking beers over an open campfire and talking about the Blazers.

Risky, but preferable to say......going out to sea with Marazul, who claims he's been unable to be gay for 40 years now. To me, that just means he's due.

It's not the league it's the out of position referees. Plain and simple. NBA referees are CONSISTENTLY out of position and do not hustle. They also regularly call outside of their primary area of responsibility. Because of this flops are regularly called.

Who has that Double flop by Harden/Chris Paul? I can't find the video.

Eh, so you don't think there's been a pretty clear favoritism for superstars over the past 20 or so years?

I hope you do this. I also hope you do an article on the incompetent job Scott Foster does game by game. You could call it..what would Dick Bavetta have done

Sorry but Dick Bavetta in the last 5 (maybe even 7+) years of his career was a horrible official. There was a Harden flop he called that I evaluated. He breaks several referee 101 rules. Suckage.

Good point...why not go the tennis route and place them on elevated chairs strategically around the court with instant replay for blind spots? They wouldn't have to run, dodge plays or balls and could fully concentrate on the court without players between them and the plays

I am surprised to hear that, he was a guy I never really second guessed much. I liked him better than Joey Crawford

Sure and that has lots to do with it. But that's not the only thing. Simple positioning corrections would clear up a lot of the flops.

That could never happen. A referee needs to move. You can't be looking at asses and elbows. That's the main problem.

Are there a lot of instructional DVDs to learn these skills now or is it mostly on the job training?

Another terrible, over the hill official who needs to be taken out back and put out of his misery.

I would think there'd be a lot less visual obstruction..interesting

I really enjoyed blazercaravans small sample size theater or whatever it was called. And slys game recaps when he went were great as well.

Anyone that goes to a game and can give first hand info and observations I can vicariously live through are cool for me. Maybe a season ticket holder can put something together like that?

That actually would create obstruction. A referee must look between the defender and the offensive player at all times. It's called an "Open Look". This cannot be maintained by standing stationary.

Eventually we'll just replace the refs with a computer and adjust the difficulty slider accordingly.

I completely agree..I think folks here prefer articles with stats and graphics more than the off the cuff stuff I enjoy...basketball is a serious business around here!

You young guys need to get in the game...the old guys can't run with the Westbrooks of the league anymore

I love what they did with tennis line calls..it's not disputable at all and quick..pretty much took the McEnroe rant out of most tournaments
