I'm wearing a mask everywhere that's not home as of today.

Step outside your door without a face mask in Hong Kong, Seoul or Tokyo these days, and you may well get a disapproving look.

Since the start of the coronavirus outbreak some places have fully embraced wearing face masks, and anyone caught without one risks becoming a social pariah.

In other places - the Czech Republic and Slovakia - it's now compulsory.

But in many other parts of the world, from the UK and the US to Sydney and Singapore, it's still perfectly acceptable to walk around bare-faced.

Why some countries embrace masks while others shun them is not just about government directives and medical advice - it's also about culture and history. But as this pandemic worsens, will this change?

They have been sacrificed by years and years of inefficient management, red tape, inadequate supplies and a lack of modernization.

My fiancee was again exposed to a patient who tested positive for COVID several weeks ago. She got an email from the surgeon last Friday who copied everyone else in the room saying they are under the assumption that the patient contracted COVID after the surgery. No further tests or quarantines were indicated at that time. Nothing from the Health System, nothing from admin, it was just the doctor giving a "heads up".

Hospital admins are throwing these workers under the bus. Its so disorganized on an institutional basis. Many departments are "winging" it.

they haven't lacked PPE with potentially fatal consequences before. This is a crisis without modern precedent. It is a national emergency and has even been declared as such. That declaration allows export restrictions & prohibitions on critical supplies. Those exports should be blocked; there are no moral or practical reasons not to

did you actually read the article? All we've heard about is the critical need around the country for N95 masks. The author of that article witnessed 280 million N95 masks being earmarked for export....on a single day. There is no fucking excuse for that...NONE

so then, while the federal government is irresponsibly allowing that to happen, it's busy outbidding New York and Michigan for PPE, then turning around and shipping that PPE to Florida and Oklahoma. MASAAA - Make America Stupid Again & Again & Again

You think the US Healthcare system is a model of efficiency? Have you been to urgent care or an ER in the past? They fucking suck.

Have you dealt with Hospital Administration? I have, many times. Layers and layers of bullshit. Shit is run by people who's job it is to run it as slow as possible.

to start with, it may not have been $50,000 in stock like trump said; the article said between 15K and 50K, which is the range of 1/30th to 1/50th of what the GOP senators did, or less. Second, there's no confirmation yet that she attended the briefing. It's probably safe to assume she did, but it's not certain yet

finally, there's the nature of the sale itself. She sold shares in Disney and converted the proceeds to shares of Target. That doesn't exactly reek of an insider move. Since she bought the shares of Target, they have dropped 20% in value

I'm not interested in engaging in a debate about the normal efficiency of the US health care system. It's certainly inefficient. In this country we are paying cadillac prices while driving a moped. But the biggest reasons for that is how fragmented it it while being far too heavily influenced by market forces and profit motives. But that's another debate I don't give much of a shit about right now

I'm talking specifically about the fact that in the middle of an extreme crisis of PPE supplies for health care workers, massive amounts of needed inventory are being shipped overseas when we have easy mechanisms to stop that drain

There were other other D politicians involved besides this crooked wench you’re defending here. You’re literally taking the legitimate argument of “both sides do it”, which is absolutely true, and trying to turn it on it’s head by splitting hairs and using semantics.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to admit that you don't care/disregard when Democrats do corrupt shit because those examples hurt your one-sided narrative?

Wherever there are politicians and regardless what's going on, there is an effort to money grab in one why shape or form.
We as a Nation (tax payers) has given more over the years to help nations and humanity efforts. Plus we waste so much of tax payers dollars on justifying government positions/existence, if the American people need to skim dome off the top for their rescue efforts, we've earned it.

what is it I said that isn't true? How is one stock transfer of less than $50,000 dollars, maybe much less, the equivalent of the multiple transactions of of 1.5-4 million dollars. How is a small switch from Disney to Target the same as selling hundreds of thousand dollars of hotel stocks and going into stocks of companies that make medical supplies or act as conduits for online work environments?

again, look at the actual transaction and what you are trying to imply: she gets a briefing on Corona virus. Her reaction is to sell Disney and buy Target? That's the evidence of corruption? How often does she sell and buy stocks...do you know?

Ok have it your way, we’ll assume the tens of thousands of dollars she traded directly after that coronavirus briefing had nothing to do with the knowledge she JUST received. Although it would be interesting to see her prior trades to see how often she trades in amounts that large, you know, for context.

But, I said in the first sentence of my post that there were other Democrats involved in questionable trading after the briefings besides her. Any comment on them?
