I fully support Trump defunding WHO if the USA is prepared to step in and supply medical equipment, quidence, and personnel to areas of the world that are in need and can not provide it for themselves.

We don't even have enough of any of those for ourselves let alone supplying them to other countries

They are a highly innovation led economy.
Um...no. They primarily produce crap, we all know this.
They’ve reaped the benefits of being able to mass produce sub-par products more cheaply than other countries due to not having to pay tariffs and having zero environmental oversight.
Other countries who actually have to compete in a world market while manufacturing responsibly are the ones who innovate. They HAVE to out of necessity, they have to make a product people are willing to pay extra for. They don’t have the luxury of packing cargo ships full of semi-functional products and shipping them overseas at a cut-rate.

Today at his press rally he was putting down the WHO and China, but afterwards some clips of trump saying the WHO and China have been doing a great job. This was in February. The guy is nothing but a 2 faced liar.

Yep, the same tariffs that forced China to come to the table and negotiate the first trade deal. Maybe they follow through with that deal, maybe not. The tariffs still haven’t been lifted until phase 2 is reached.

I mean we are currently trillions in the hole right now with this pandemic. A lot of our supply chain problems happened while the US was shut down with a lot of commerce between US and China. They even threatened to stop sending us valuable medication sometime in February.

Still doesn't change the fact that we are the ones who will ultimately be taking it in the ass.

"Had the WHO done its job to get medical experts into China to objectively assess the situation on the ground and to call out China's lack of transparency, the outbreak could have been contained at its source with very little death," he told reporters.

OK...if you were stranded on a desert island because of coronavirus, who would you rather be stranded with:

Ginger or Mary Ann

Daenerys or Sansa

Rosario Dawson or Michele Rodriguez

Miley Cyrus or Jewel

Roseanne Barr or Rosie O'Donnell

Mr. Ed or Flicka

On second thought, my first pick would be Roseanne Barr.

It was a tie between Roseanne and Mr. ED as to which one would cook into the most pot roast & BBQ ribs. But I no longer run fast enough to catch a horse

We are taking it in the ass right now yankee. Our economy is shut down, thousands dead, 6 trillion price tag. How much you think that cost per consumer?

When I said "we" I was speaking of of the middle class everyday working Joe having to pay more...not the whole US economy in general.

I could/should have been clearer.

You don’t think the middle class isn’t taking it up in the ass right now? How many of them have lost their jobs? How many of them died? How many of them will be on the hook for the 6 trillion we will probably have to borrow?

Not sure what any of that has to do with Trump's tariffs.

Trump accused governors who don't kiss his ass of mutiny. He said Mutiny on the Bounty was one of his favorite movies and talked about demanding too much of a captain.

So, he's Captain Bligh? The man who tortured his crew? The man listed as #18 of Hollywood's 100 worst movie villains? I'm sure he didn't read the book but did he ever see the movie? Movie pretty true to book despite casting light skinned wavy haired white woman as narrator's Tahitian bride.

Remember, Bligh and his supporters were put into a small boat and cast into the sea.

The tariffs are to continue the end goal of bringing essential manufacturing back in the US. Keep the negotiations going and lower China’s stranglehold of the supply chains.

It isn't like China makes so much cheap crap for us that they could afford to build massive cities that are falling apart in a year or two. Nope, we aren't paying for that.

We're getting their junk goods so cheap it might as well be free!!!!!

I'm aware of the tariffs concept but there's no correlation between that and the calamity we're going through right now.

We're now talking about two completely different things.

See that’s where I respectfully disagree. China is a bad actor, always has been. They steal tech, personal info, and it’s pretty evident they want to be the new world power.

They’ve convinced the world they can make cheap ass parts, medicine and chemicals (essential items) and the world bought it. They are the #1 world polluter and they shield any oversight. They’ve paid to get people into top positions around the world in the WHO, UN and various world commerce groups to keep that power.

This virus was caused by them, which in turn, disrupted all the world’s supply chains. Then because they didn’t want to lose their world power, they hide vital information and allowed this virus to spread outside their country.

We need drastic changes to our essential supply chains, even if they are more expensive. Why? Because we can’t afford to be held hostage by a bad actor.

Trump in the early stages was praising WHO and China in February. Why does he continually deny what he says when there is video to prove it?
Maybe because he, like everyone else, was looking to them for guidance on this pandemic? :dunno:

Vicious Tyrant Trump Wants To Let People Leave Their Homes
April 14th, 2020
article-5952-2.jpg

WASHINGTON, D.C.—By all accounts, President Donald Trump has now gone completely mad with power. In a press briefing, he laid out his insidious plan.

“When I’m done with this country, everyone will be able to leave their houses whenever they want and do whatever they want,” Trump told the press with an evil grin. “They’ll be able to peaceably assemble in whatever size groups they desire! Muhahaha!”

“You’re a mad man!” a CNN reporter cried. “You don’t have the power to let people have freedom! You’re a tyrant!”

“My power is absolute!” Trump screamed. “No one can stop me! Soon everyone will be able to go back to work and buy whatever they feel like from the store even if bureaucrats don’t like it!”

“Noooo!” cried an MSNBC reporter. “You have to arrest people who don’t do what the government tells them! Who do you think you are? Someone stop him!”

But no one came to stop him, and Trump just laughed an evil laugh.

It is unknown if anything can be done about Trump, but many hope that the Constitution has enough checks and balances to keep one man from giving out freedom by fiat.

The outbreak in the South Dakota processing plant is now over 500 sick. Governor still says no stay at home needed. In Iowa another outbreak in processing plant and again no stay at home. Nebraska also no stay at home although many businesses are closed. Nebraska announced with great fanfare they will reopen large shopping mall. Because what could possibly go wrong?
