The House was supposed to have those witnesses before the actual trial. If they didn’t have those witnesses, they shouldn’t of impeached.

the senate were Jurors, the house were the prosecution. No judge would bring a case before jury trial unless the prosecution presented prevailing reason.

oh that's rich. Didn't someone block the main witnesses from testifying in the House? and then the senate republicans refused to allow witnesses. Amd then there are the thousands of documents that were requested by the House and were denied by the administration. Do you know what that's called?

OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE

That’s good, so then you trust him when he was endorsing Hydroxychloroquine during the SARS outbreak?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...le-treatment-for-new-sars-like-virus/2091443/
In my opinion the jury is out on hydroxychloroquine. I'm am neither for it nor against it. Did Fauci say it to placate Trump or because he believed it? No way of telling for sure. I doubt if my endocrinologist would tell me even if he knew.
If doctors want to prescribe it while it's being researched then I see it as both legal, whether I like it or not, and fine with me.

You sensationalistic smart ass comments are funny, but your link proved me right and you wrong. Here's some additional information for you. You really shouldn't just accept the trump spin so easily as he's been a proven liar on thousands of ocassions.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/04/us/coronavirus-china-travel-restrictions.html

by the way, you said flights were SHUT DOWN, Both articles mentioned restricted, just like what I said.

#don'ttrusttrump
Okay, I did say Shut Down. It was restrictions. And yes, thousands came in after the travel restrictions, but that was a drop in the bucket from the normal flow of travelers into our country.

even Dr. Fauci openly claimed that “restriction” saved thousands of lives.

Exact opposite. And Ill dig up quotes if I have to. I remember specifically commenting that Id rather have the bill checked out in full and libs and socialists here screaming that people need money now, just send it out. Whats the delay????

fuck that noise....

did you think you were advancing any discussion by labeling people you don't agree with as "libs and socialists". It's horseshit. Would you react objectively if I labeled people like you fascists? Endorsing the comments of like-minded people by implying others are ignorant or less-informed or just flat dumber isn't honest discussion. Believing you're one of the few adults in the room while diving deep into many of the infantile food fights here is pure contradiction. There's no reason for that kind of condescension; and I want to make it clear I can be guilty of those kinds of sins myself sometimes. When I commit them, it's fair I'm called for it and put in a penalty box....just as long as the box has been disinfected after the last occupant

I guess that's the big problem with all us keyboard warriors. I'm fairly confident if a lot of these discussions were taking place in person, the temperature would not be anywhere close to as high as it is. In fact, once a lot of us recognized where the other was coming from, some subjects would just be avoided in the interest of comity. Recognition that there would be no profit in going those directions because none of us are persuasive enough to change minds. And that way too many fists would be the last punctuation of way too many arguments. But apparently there's no cost to cyber fist-fights, other than a degradation of discussion

sorry for singling you out OB, that's probably not fair. Your "libs and socialists" comment triggered me a little. What's funny is that I am a liberal and I don't think it's a bad word. I just understand that it can be used as a pejorative, as you definitely used it there, and it's irritating. Mainly it's irritating because I've arrived at my POV in a valid manner. I would say I have spent 50 years as an adult, but I'm not sure most men ever spend a day as an adult. I know why wife doesn't think so. Neither do my 2 ex-wives or my daughter. Most of the 'debate' around here sure doesn't seem adult, whether it's about trump or about CJ's passing ability or about Stotts and his defense

what I'm trying to get at is that we likely have arrived at this point in our lives legitimately, and that maybe a little more respect should be granted, and a lot less condescension & dismissal. And again, that goes for myself, although I can assure you, when I am an asshole, I'm a thoughtful one
************************************************************

another thing...."socialism". It's everywhere and all of us believe in it. Socialism is not having to build your own highway when you drive to Costco. And when you get to Costco, socialism was part of the reason every single item was sitting on the shelves....or not sitting in the case of toilet paper. Socialism is in the light going on when you flip the switch. Socialism is in the flu shot you get and will be in the Covid vaccine you hopefully get in a year or so.

there is no bright fine line between the public sector and the private sector. It's an extremely broad border filled with shades of grey. If you believe in roads and bridges and electricity and fire departments...you're a socialist

sorry for the rant....so getting back to the original argument: I can't speak for anybody else, but I know what I was arguing about the stimulus. I'm not going to look up timelines, but IIRC, the first relief package the House passed came one day after trump declared a national emergency. This opened the way for the House to pass emergency legislation. They did so in less than 24 hours and the bill was narrow, targeted, and contained no noticeable partisan bullshit.

That should have been the template for the stimulus bill(s) and that's what I was arguing for. Both sides were paying major lip service to unemployment relief. Then for fuck sake, pass an emergency unemployment bill without attaching anything else. And they could have done the same for small business relief. The House set a template with the first relief bill. But the senate immediately turned the stimulus into a SOB albatross, larding all kinds of fucking fat onto the edges and into the core. Everybody knows what was happening. That's why it took them nearly 2 weeks to pass the bill and that was after at least two abortive attempts by McConnell to ram thru even worse bills than the stinking corpse of an albatross they finally passed.

The House passed that bill and got it to trump's desk in less than 24 hours. So yes, fuck the D's and the House for not doing due diligence; and fuck the R's and the senate for the corrupt bullshit they passed; and fuck them all for the toxic situation they have created over the last few decades that led to this; and fuck all of us for allowing this to happen by making out our differences to be so much more important than out agreements...

...and, fuck the Lakers

Obstruction by using “executive privilege?” Lol sure.... The House had ample time to challenge that in the Supreme Court but they tried rushing it through.

My understanding of it is it has one benefit to a virus host...it'll help break a fever...with side affects commonly to follow. It will not kill the virus in current tests. Some who've survived after taking it would probably have survived anyway...most infected hosts survive if they have a strong enough immune system.. My understanding is that it would be like taking an aspirin for a headaches caused by a brain tumor....temporary relief but it's not killing the tumor.

100% agree. So we should agree that everyone in the world got this wrong in the early stages. I can concede to that.

We should focus on the here and now.

Yet your president denies he got it wrong. Why does he deny it? Kind of hard to trust someone who so easily and openly lies isn't it?

Obstruction by using “executive privilege?” Lol sure.... The House had ample time to challenge that in the Supreme Court but they tried rushing it through.

and now folks, we have the spin cycle operating at full speed. You crack me up mags.

Nope. The House serves as a sort of Grand Jury that only seeks enough evidence for a trial. The trial is supposed to provide the clinchers. The Senate acts as a sort of trial for anyone who has been impeached (indicted).

and all it takes is ONE person to get through and start the infectious chain. So yes, he did finally put forth A measure, he just didn't put forth an adequate measure and instead told us the corona virus would simply go away and we are not in trouble of having any problems. How's that work out?

Obstruction by using “executive privilege?” Lol sure.... The House had ample time to challenge that in the Supreme Court but they tried rushing it through.
No, the House did not have ample time. The Supreme Court would not have heard that case for months. Also, the House thought Trump's continued Presidency was so dangerous that he must be removed as soon as possible.

Yep, they are the prosecution much like the DOJ. After the Grand Jury “Impeachment Inquiry” the house acts as the “prosecution” to present its case to the Jury “Senate”

mags only follows the trump spin. He's not interested in the truth. Seems to be a common characteristic of the trumpers as they believe everything he says and repeat it ad nauseam regardless of the fact checks. It's almost cult like, lol.

Was that on or before Nancy waited almost 3 weeks to present the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate?

She didn't want to impeach the President. She waited as long as she could stand it. Then Trump did something to break the camel's back but I can't recall what it was.

That was before the impeachment inquiry. I’m talking about what the house did after they voted yes on the Articles of Impeachment.

It was his bribing of Ukraine to announce an investigation on Biden which was for his own personal gain for his re-election campaign. You know the not so "perfect" call.

Oh, I just don't recall every detail.

Thread has little about Corona virus any more. Devolved into praise of god emperor, who never makes mistakes, never is wrong, and above all is never responsible for bad things but demands full credit for anything good.

I have better things to do with my life even during shutdown.

Bye. I will return when California governor opens up enough so I can send @hoopsjock his cookies.

A lib is a liberal. A socialist is a socialist. Making those statements is not derogatory unless your skin is thinner than a jellyfish....

I didn't say libtards or anything.

I bolded one thing that really stood out. You say this to me, when you have people like Calvin Natt running around here saying anyone who supports trump should get the virus and he hopes they die and all that crap. Do you think that is respectful? Or maybe you should rethink the direction of this post and address it to those who actually are disrespectful and not direct it to those who are fed up with the disrespect?

I would honestly like a solid reply to this. Why are you singling me out for this statement when I read every day so much more disrespectful statements from others on here???????????

I mean really....

It was his bribing of Ukraine to announce an investigation on Biden which was for his own personal gain for his re-election campaign. You know the not so "perfect" call.
Oh really? Where does it say that on the actual Articles of Impeachment? Because the last time I checked, he was impeached for Obstruction of Congress and Abuse of Power.
