The vast majority of the vaccine doses that Oregon is receiving through the program this week will go to Safeway and Albertsons pharmacies across the state. The two grocery chains share common ownership and operate in tandem.
Company spokesman Jill McGinnis said they anticipate approximately 11,500 doses to be shipped to 115 Albertsons and Safeway pharmacies in Oregon.
All but four of the company’s Oregon pharmacies are expected to receive doses. The Albertsons locations in Hillsboro and Bend, the Safeway in St. Helens and the company’s stand alone pharmacy in Myrtle Creek will not receive doses.
Eligible Oregonians will be able to sign up for appointments online through Albertsons and Safeway sometime later this week by visiting www.albertsons.com/COVID-19 and www.safeway.com/COVID-19. McGinnis did not yet know when appointment slots would open. She said that Oregonians who don’t have access to the internet can call their pharmacies directly to try to schedule appointments.
“The online scheduler will open in conjunction with our receiving of the doses,” McGinnis said. “It is not open currently. We ask that the public continue to check over the course of the week and appreciate their patience.”
Vaccine doses will also be going to 13 Costco locations statewide, according to the company’s website. Those stores are in Albany, Aloha, Bend, Central Point, Clackamas, Eugene, Hillsboro, Portland, Roseburg, Salem, Tigard, Warrenton and Wilsonville.
Individuals will be able to sign up for appointments by visiting https://www.costco.com/covid-vaccine.html. Appointments were not yet available Tuesday and a Costco spokesman would not answer questions about the company’s participation in the vaccine program.
Its a joke that in the 21st century, with state of the art distribution software the private industry uses, the State of Oregon cannot keep pace with technology that equates to efficiency and superb service. Oh, that right they don't have any competition or performance marks to consider. I dealt with the State of Oregon for decades and they were always behind when it came to logistics and process.
Don't worry, I hear that they're getting the IT guys from the Unemployment Dept. to work on the scheduling app.

We're talking about the current program to vaccinate the general public, dog. The hospitals took care of administering doses to healthcare workers. The schools pretty much organized getting teachers vaccinated. The state has only had a year to plan for vaccinating the general public. It's understandable that nobody knows what the heck is going on.
I'm not trying to defend Brown or the job she's done with covid, I'm just saying that following the instructions that were told to the public, I was able to get my dad an appointment for Friday and Mrs Spd was able to get her mom vaccinated yesterday.
Appointment times were made available on Monday at 9am. This was public knowledge. Appointment times will be made available again next Monday. To be critical that there are no appointment times being made available on Wednesday when none were scheduled to be seems odd.
I'll keep saying this, with the weather forecast I'm guessing that there will be cancelations on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday because 80 year olds and snow and ice don't really mix. If you know someone over 80 years old who wants a vaccine I would check the appointment system that I have used for my family successfully and have posted screen shots here to help everyone here.
Is this a perfect system? No.
But it's the system we have and it is navigable.
Having been to the convention center to get a vaccine I found it to be extremely well organized and professional. There are health professionals there from Kaiser, Legacy, Providence, and OHSU, plus the Oregon national guard.
It felt both safe medically and security wise.
Don't overlook getting signed up with Albertsons/Safeway and Costco. According to The Oregonian, they're supposed to get doses this week and will have their own scheduling systems on their websites:

Appointment times availability on Monday at 9am is public knowledge now. It was not before that time. I had my doctor's office tell me to call just after midnight Sunday night. Guess what? No appointment scheduling was available. I also tried Monday morning at 6am. Guess what? No appointment scheduling was available. Since I was busy with work I didn't try again until after noon and by then all of the appointments were taken.
In case you didn’t see, they’re opening up appointments for next week at 9:00 am today.

I've been buried all morning with work so I didn't see this until now. No appointments available.![]()

Calif. man tests positive for COVID-19 weeks after receiving 2nd vaccine dose
Thanks Sly! Mom is all set!
You act surprised. There's like 15 strains out there.
And again, how the fuck do you sleep at night? Lol.
You owe me a jack n coke the next time we meet up.
I'm hoping we'll get it figured out when we go to her appointment for shot #1. Having scheduling done over the internet is not a good idea for people over 80.I signed my mom up and she has an appointment. However, I made the mistake of using her email to send the confirmation to. Apparently the email has a link to fill out a form and a link for scheduling the appt for dose #2. Of course she deleted the email before she clicked the links. She even deleted the email from the deleted folder.I'm hoping we'll get it figured out when we go to her appointment for shot #1.
