I think I've asked before...... how do we know when we can get it?

Oregon's currently in their 1b phase of the rollout, counting down backwards on age, so 80 and up, then a week later, 75 and up, etc. They haven't yet announced the specifics for the next tiers, I don't believe, but expected to likely be other essential workers and people in high risk categories. After that, I imagine it will begin to open to general public. Could likely be until May or so before that part begins.

Folks 70-74 had their enrollment open up today....

There are various organizations around the area putting on clinics where you can get onto their schedule and/or waiting list for potential vaccinations before a lot of others. They're being sent more vaccines than needed for the population and then open up a first-come, first-served clinic to go through the rest of the vaccines. You just have to know who offers them and continuously follow them.

I don't think people understand how the vaccine works. It doesn't prevent you from getting covid, it just lessens it's impact on you. You can still catch it and spread it.

And I don't think people understand the medical definition of a vaccine:

CDC "A product that stimulates a person's immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease."

Fauci says new CDC rules are coming for people who've been fully vaccinated

  • New guidance from the CDC is coming for vaccinated people, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday.
  • He told CNN he thought the agency would soon "relax the stringency of the recommendations."
  • Fauci, who doesn't run the CDC, said he would be "comfortable" letting vaccinated households mix.

Providence Portland sucks. One of fhe worst experiences I've ever had when my wife gave birth there. They don't know stuff. Legacy emanuel with Randall's next door is so much better for that type of hospital stay.
Didn't know that about maternity but my last 3 grandkids spent time at Randall's and they are world class. Ofcourse they are for extended/special service stays. But wow.
They had a camera set up that my son that was in Qatar could chime in any time and check on his new daughter. She was there a month.
Providence Ive been in several times and was very impressed with their facilities, rooms and service. I had my cancer surgery, tow TKR's and several stones removed there and they were terrific. If I need something for pain, I got a selection offered.

Randall's is my favorite. Ohsu isn't for me. I hate the fact they want students in all of your appointments. My daughter has a rare syndrome. We had no idea until she was born that she had it. Portland providence was dumbfounded and had no idea what it could be. They referred us to Randalls or OHSU. That experience left a horrible taste in my mouth. Will never go there again.
So sorry to her about your daughter.

I've been to OHSU so many times including a stay in their intensive care unit and their emergency room and I've never had a student nurse there. The VA uses student nurses but only as observers or they may do things with your permission. I regularly don't let them do more than observe.

Just got home from shot numero uno. Dose dos in 4 weeks from today.

J&J is getting closer to emergency approval. This may speed up the vaccine distribution greatly.

The VA will soon be giving vaccine shots to spouses of Veterans. Wish they'd start that now.
