Did you read the article?

Overall, 274 vaccinated patients with a breakthrough infection were symptomatic, according to the CDC. The most common side effects were cough, headache, sore throat, muscle pain and fever. Among five Covid patients who were hospitalized, four were fully vaccinated, according to the agency. No deaths were reported.

Testing identified the delta variant in 90% of specimens from 133 patients.

Even worse!

5 hospitalization. 4 vaccinated, 1 unvaccinated.

Also, why is it bad to say China Virus, but at the same time "Indian Variant" is ok? Really shows who's controlling the narrative.

Do I really need to mask up again?

I'm fully vaccinated. Everyone I know is fully vaccinated. And frankly I don't give a shit about the idiots who won't get vaccinated.

So why the heck do I need to wear a mask again? What am I missing?

1. Keeping down the viral load so your body has time to fight the virus.

2. Reducing the spread of the virus to others, including those who are vaccinated.

It's been named the Delta variant to avoid saying B.137.2.593.394.500.7.q, or the Indian variant.
In my opinion, the Guardian should have said Delta not 'Indian Delta'. But I don't own the Guardian.

We don’t know what the percentage of people in Provincetown is who are vaccinated. Since it’s an urban area, it’s likely higher than the statewide average that includes rural areas. The cases were predominantly men with an average age around 40. The city had lifted the mask mandate, so these are likely guys socializing in enclosed spaces like bars and restaurants while unmasked. With the delta variant being predominant and way more transmissible, it’s not surprising that people were infected. Bear in mind that the efficacy rate is lower for delta, but that the vaccine still keeps you from getting seriously ill. That’s borne out in this case in that out of 883 total cases, only 7 were hospitalized.

114% vaccination rate.

Experts said a future strain could be resistant to vaccines if it came about by the jab-resistant 'South Africa' Beta variant combining with the more transmissible 'Kent' Alpha or 'India' Delta variants.

The process — known as recombination — could lead to a strain with 'increased morbidity and mortality'.

The team admitted vaccines should work unless there was an extra-potent mutation that rendered jabs much less effective at blocking serious disease — which many experts say is unlikely.

But they said the extra lethality would be expected 'even in the face of vaccination since vaccines do not provide absolute sterilising immunity.'

You can't avoid the idiots who won't get vaccinated, they are still a danger to your health. The vaccine is not a 100% surefire solution, it just improves your chances (and those of everyone you know). As does a mask (to a lesser degree).

Let me spare you the commercial plug. You own the Buccaneer Gazette - we know, we know.

"The next Covid variant could kill up to one in THREE people: SAGE warns doomsday scenario is 'realistic possibility' and UK's vaccine roll-out may even speed up mutant strain's emergence"

I think the headline writer went off the reservation (that's an Indian Delta variant joke right there) with the bolded part.
There is nothing in the article to suggest that the vaccines speed up the emergence of mutants; in fact the article says the opposite.

You’re right. The elderly are generally unaffected by covid. Please don’t think poorly of me for thinking otherwise the first time. Unvaccinated old people don’t count as old people, they simply fall under the ‘unvaccinated scum’ category. There are no meaningful demographics to pull data from other than vaccinated or unvaccinated. Only unvaccinated people die when they get covid. And no vaccinated people die. That’s why the vaccinated are so worried about catching covid from an unvaccinated person and dying. Science.
I don't know if any fully vaccinated people have died from Covid-19 and if they have I'm sure it's a tiny percentage.
Also, the vaccine works best in the younger adults so the elderly vaccinated adults make up the majority of those that contract the disease. Lucky for the elderly that the vaccine mostly protects the lungs and not so much the upper respiratory. Death mostly occurs from lung complications.

The vaccines slow down the emergence of variant via Darwinism. The less there are of them the less likely of variants some of which will potentially thrive due to their abundance and lay waste to the rest of us and most importantly, me, God Damn it.

Listen, I’m fully on board for anti vaxxers to get it And just go away. But the amount of infected impacts everyone - schools being open or not, businesses and the economy, sporting events. If an anti vax person is too scared and they get it and die or go to the ICU, so be it. But the rest of us would like to move on

Kids needing to wear mask for long school days, is tough on those with anxiety and/or respiratory issues. There still needs to be online offered for those that need it. Just my opinion

In normal circumstances, I'm very much against home-schooling. I have yet to see very many cases where it works out better than the worst of public education. Most parents simply aren't capable (and, unfortunately, they often tend to be the ones who think they are). There are exceptions, of course.

But, if I had a school aged kid now (one of my own, I mean, not the ones I pick up in the Free Candy van), I would not want him/her to attend school in person. I'd want Zoom school, but if that wasn't available I'd skip the whole thing and make them a deckhand on the pirate ship.

My three are in school- elementary, middle and high school. I was totally fine with remote learning. And then in like March everything changed. Not just for us but for a lot of families we know. Kids checked out. Not all, but it was a total waste of time. They should have just said - here’s a list of 100 books. Read two a month and write a report. Done. Watching my 9,12.15 year old boys looking at a computer screen all day was torture. They learned very little. And teachers were hit or miss. A lot of them checked out too.

My theory is that a variant infects a vaccinated person. The virus adjusts to the vaccinated person or finds a way to bypass the free spike proteins, and then the infected spreads the new, more deadly variant.

Yeah, but just for parents who insist on it. I'm really for kids being with other kids of all other types. You gotta learn to get along together.

A variant is a mutation when the virus replicates. It has no idea who is or isn't vaccinated. It's not going to seek out vaccinated people. It's not an intelligent being. You're confusing viruses with Aliens.
