I wouldn't let them out, you're seeing the after effects with increased crimes all over.
Judge after judge has disagreed with you. They say you can't condemn them of the certainty of infection from Covid-19 of which some would prove fatal.
I'd prefer that taxpayers would vote yes to more jail and prison space for those who deserve it.

forced retirement, disband, defund….why are you disputing semantics?
Point is far less officers on the streets. Gun violence up 800%. There is a correlation.
Please supply evidence of this correlation? When did the numbers of police begin to drop? When did the crime rates start rising?

Why?

you will just add spin and deny it. I mean this is widespread common knowledge. Been in the news forever. Just open some of the links i posted regarding rising crime.

you are really gonna try to debate that many of portlands police force had many retire amid being treated like criminals over the last 18 months? Are you really gonna demy the increase in crime over the last 18 months?

If there is actually evidence we can have a conversation. If not there is no point.

Our conversations typically involve you denying the evidence I've supplied. Not the other way around.

ive posted yet two more links….. did you even see me say i posted links in the post you just quoted? Or you just quoting me to argue instead of get your answers?

There have been crime increases correlated with pandemic. In liberal and conservative areas. Police not disbanded or refunded.

Those links show the last 18 months police leaving. Specifically, choosing to leave. Not being defunded, not forced out, choosing out.

But crime rates started trending up in 2014/2015

https://www.macrotrends.net/cities/us/or/portland/crime-rate-statistics

read the one saying they left in droves this year. Are you really gonna say crime isnt a corrolation?

not bothering with you. You always find a way to spin.
Fact is crime hit a peak this year and the police force numbers are down.
Spin it how you like. Most of us aren't gonna play that game and see the correlation as pretty obvious.

there is no debating this…

Right. This year would be included in the 18 months statement.

Crime usually spikes during epidemics and times of economic turmoil. When a large percentage of the population is out of work you see crime rates spike for obvious reasons.

Check out increased crime rates in 2008-2010 as well. Which was the start of reversing the trend of dropping crime rates.

I'm not sure why you're being argumentative. I'm trying to help you back up your claim with data.

It's not important if your claim is supported by data. The important part is that people draw conclusions from data, rather than anecdotes and rumors.

Question. Do you try to debate every single thing you disagree with online, or just here?

Yes crime rates went up in 2008-2010
Did homicides go up 800% like they did recently?

you know the saying my eyes dont lie? Case stands here. I don't care about numbers, though most lean my way. More people speeding. Zero cops on the roads.
Homocides up 800%. More cops retiring this year than ever before.

im not here to debate this. I posted the links to show whats going on. If you want to debate it go join the forum of the sites i posted.

The reality is there are less cops than ever before patrolling the streets, based on a mass exodus, in part, because people deemed every one of them bad(evil), like this thread claims.

Just like the nba, number can be spun to fit whatever narrative you deem fit. Doesn't make it a reality.

So if you want to debate semantics, find someone else.

The reality is many parts of Portland have gone to shit in a way never before seen in such a quick timeline. Combined with much, much less police presence, its only common sense to know there is a correlation.

I question claims which interest me. Absolutely.

If you make claims online you're inviting debate. You should make sure you have evidence to support your claims if you don't want to look silly.

And correlation is not the same as causation.

blah blah blah and nothing about all the links.
Blah blah blah and nothing about real life. Lol

So again, your links don't support causation. Crime rates were climbing before the time frame your links addressed, and there were extenuating circumstances during the time frame your links addressed.

So it's very far from conclusive. It's too bad you have your mind made up in spite of the evidence...

I guess we can thank Trump for making that seem like an acceptable course of action.
