I think they are trying to say that the guy with the confederate flag jacket is antifa.

No, probably a democrat plant, just like the ones who dressed up with tiki torches, they were found to be part of the VA Democrats organization.

They weren't though, they were from the Lincoln Project, aka anti-Trump Republicans.

Edit: well, it was organized by Lincoln Project. Maybe the individuals were Democrats, though.

This is all in the wrong thread, but whatevz.

The actual actors were part of VAdemocrats.

DeathSantis on TV with carefully coached second grader who "explained" wearing masks bad because they get germs on them and then you touch the germs.
Because second graders make health policy.

wow. So much in there correlates with my thoughts i shared here regarding junk food, and was pretty much laughed off as ridiculous…
You sure? From the article:

There’s also a deep-seated belief in America that obesity and other diet-related diseases are the result of personal choices and anything the government does to meddle with our diets is an assault on American liberty. That narrative is increasingly being challenged by science. Research shows that once someone has obesity, there are almost no dietary or exercise interventions that are successful at reversing the disease over the long term and many people lack access to more aggressive treatments like drugs and bariatric surgery. Humans, it turns out, are largely hardwired to keep weight on once they gain it.

Maybe I am confused about what your stance was.

my stance, or off the cusp opinion was we should regulate unhealthy foods. Tax them more, etc. In the article you posted, one country went so far as to straight ban junk food of sorts.

Do smoked bbq ribs qualify as such? BETTER NOT!!

You were told the simpler way was to cut subsidies to junk foods. Since taxing something you're also subsiding would be counterproductive.

Then if you still need to tax stuff you can go from there.

Then you got offended.

But the main thing we need to do is get people vaccinated.
The #1 cause of death from covid-19 is lack of vaccine.
2nd is old age.
3rd is comorbodity (diabetes, obesity, etc.)

A person I know who is currently in the hospital hoping to avoid the ventilator just got another elk during bow season.

His method of hunting elk is to track them down until they get tired of running from you. And he always gets his elk. Might take him 48hrs of following them through thick brush, over hillsides, etc...

The guy is in great shape. No comorbodity. 50yrs old. Not vaccinated. His nephew just died of covid-19 last Tuesday. Also not vaccinated.

Fingers crossed for him.

Then some people became condescending.

Then you returned the attitude.

Covid sucks. Sorry for your friends loss. But the original convo centered around a healthier America, this covid connection is just coincidental, but also emphasizes the importance of having healthier people, less susceptible to such diseases and viruses.

The original conversation wasn't related specifically to covid, necessarily. It was in regards to universal healthcare. You weren't advocating increasing taxes on junk food. You were offended that your tax dollars that went to UHC would go to people that might not be the healthiest, and you wanted them to pay more taxes than others towards it, IIRC. And others said instead, you provide UHC, and then you remove subsidies to junk food which would in turn increase the prices on those items.
You can "spin" it to your favor, but nobody mocked you for wanting to tax junk food, and if that's your recollection of it, you're finding a way to paint yourself the victim. People were annoyed that you opposed UHC because of a few unhealthy people taking advantage of things by eating chips and junk food. If they were condescending to you, it was because of the stance you were seemingly taking that many should suffer by not getting UHC, because of a few that don't take care of themselves.

My wife and I got the Moderna booster on Tuesday. Other than a very sore arm, we were both fine until about 12 hours later. Then it hit us pretty hard in terms of aches, pains, chills and an overwhelming desire to sleep. That lasted about 12 hours and then we were fine. It sucked but I have no doubt it beats full blown Covid……

I had my Pfizer booster at 430pm yesterday. Slept ok. Today, I've had moderate fatigue. I took a short nap and feel a little better but at about 60% right now. I had a sore arm, which I really didn't have after the first series.

Pretty sure it was in a covid-19 thread... And you're bringing it up Agian in a covid-19 thread...

Seems like a great way to cause a miscommunication.

Obviously, healthy people tend to be less susceptible to various illnesses and more likely to survive them. But plenty of previously healthy people have died of infectious disease.
Get. The. Damn. Vaccine.

You were single when you got your first two shots.

You're married now.

I'll let you figure out the rest.

Have you picked out a funeral home yet? If not I would do that immediately.

How many times are the goal posts going to move? We’ve gone from 70% of adults needing to be fully vaccinated to reach “herd immunity” and now we’re sitting at countries with 90+ percent fully vaccinated not seeing results, a second booster and demands that children now get the jab. What’s the next benchmark going to be?
The exact amount of fully vaccinated population needed to reach herd immunity has never been known. 70% was always a minimum guess.

Better to talk to an attorney first. They need the money. I'm getting an attorney to do a power of attorney task plus a simple will and I feel like I'm stealing his services at a scant $350/hr.

yes. Its unfortunate but its reality.

Read. Above though it might explain a bit more of my opinion on this.

Wow, that is heartless.

did you read above? Did you catch my opinion on health risks being a choice not a disability? So on your instance yes they should be covered. Its not a choice to have diabetes. But they still need to pay in.

Another logic failure. Only the people that do not understand that you need to invest in the resources required for a strong economy to rip the benefits are the idiots.

so every leader who has not pushed for this is an idiot. Got it.

Lets put it another way. Most of you who disagree with my opinion would consider the following to be perfectly fine.
An unvaccinated person should not get help before a vaccinated person if they get covid and meed health care.

How can this same thought process not be equated to other health risks?

a person who eats potato chips all day shouldn't get help before someone who eats fruits and vegetables. Or they should pay more.

If one doesn't agree with that them there is a serious double standard going on.
Ill just leave it at that.

I initially brought up taxing junk food as one of many solutions on the spot, as quick ideas to fund UHC. It's perhaps not a sound solution, just a quick thought off the top of my head. OB agreed with it.

OB thinks everyone should pay into UHC, others like yourself on here don't agree with that. That's ok. We can all agree to disagree.

Not sure why a 2 month old argument has popped up again.

Got my covid booster yesterday. Fatigued and full of body aches. Haven't had a 103 fever this time so that's good. Probably be feeling better this afternoon.
