All of the mandates around Covid are going to dwindle away as it slows down, which it is, especially going into summer. These idiots are clogging up DC now?

The point is that the mandates still exist. I'm not entirely sure who these people are to be honest, it seems like a psy op to me. No one really cares anymore.

Most people moved on.

Yeah imagine where we’d be if there were no mask or vaccine mandates. Fucked. Or more fucked. I wonder if these people wore seat belts and drove within the speed limits in their DMV registered cars as they trekked across the country. All those other pesky mandates.

Yeah it kinda went away overnight and Ukraine/Putin stepped in to fill the emotional trauma void for Americans. There’s never NOT an existential threat on the horizon that must consume your psyche. When one goes away the next one crops up. There always has to be something to keep us scared and arguing.

since your post followed mine, ill assume it was that passive agressive conversational skill being used here.
For the record im fully vaxxed.
But hell yeah i will fight for those that have opinions forced on them by others thru ridicule, demeaning words. Even if i may disagree with them.
So much hateful stuff has been said in this thread about antivaxxers and maskers it is really sad.

So yeah when stats come out showing things weren't as effective as once thought, it isn't gonna be dismissed.

I'm not honestly sure, as they were denied vaccines for the longest time. How effective has the vaccine been for age brackets 12-18, 19-35 and 36-55 with the omicron?

Considering the hospitalization rates and the death rates for the vaccinated and unvaccinated the vaccine has been extremely effective.

We have updated with Booster shots, but from what I know booster shots are just another of the same right?

My point tothis is i'm wondering why new vaccine variants haven't been developed, or a new vaccine to have a better rate of protection against Omicron and future variants? Don't we update our flu shots every season to accommodate the new flu variant?

The focus was and still is to get the majority of the US population with a baseline protection. Because that base of protection does very well in reducing death and hospital stays.

In the future, we might have a shot similar to the flu shot that better addresses emerging variants.

New vaccine varients have been developed, but the current ones are effective enough that there is no need for emergency measures to push them through.

For example, there is a vaccine developed by the army that would protect against all coronavirii. It'll be in trials for some years and then, if successful, it will be released.

We don't have emergency need for better vaccines, we need people to take the current effective vaccines.

But from the CDC article I posted, it reads to me as though they are saying Omicron(as in my opinion future variants) have an increased evasion of the vaccine. So those who haven't yet taken it, it seems to read it wont help much if they do at this point?

If i'm not understanding their article, then its not me, I chalk it up to their misspelled words! :)

Yes, as real-world examples showed, if vaccinated you can still get Omicron. But, and this is the important part, the chances of needing hospitalization or death with significantly reduced with those who were vaccinated vs the unvaccinated.

I didn't see or read that in the CDC article. I would think that would be important info to include? To me it reads that even if vaccinated the Omicron has a greater chance of sidestepping it and fucking you up?

From the same article:

That to me seems to suggest the opposite of what you are saying.

No, that actually predicted very well what happened. I believe when Omicron first hit the full vaccination rate in the country was around 60%. Omicron infections did increase. Hospitals were pushing close to capacity. All of that was and is true. And again, the vast majority of the people with severe sickness and death were the unvaccinated.

Though I always thought the vaccine mandates were silly for event attendance (Vax status impacts one's body's response to the vaccine much, much more than its ability to spread the virus), I never railed against it because businesses always have a right to determine who they let in.

It was the mandates for employment that always bothered me, and even moreso now. How many people lost their jobs less over a requirement that within less than six months was deemed no longer important enough to remain a requirement?
