Ok, I'll try to adjust to say,it seems awful to be gleeful about someone's approval rating going up as people are dying from this virus in increasing numbers.
It's pathetic.

OK, so, my wife ordered some N95 masks on Amazon...not that we would necessarily be using them right away so much as it would be good to have them if/when there becomes a run on them. I asked her how much they cost and she said 8 masks were $90. I was, like, huh?! Wow! Surely we could get them cheaper...couldn't we?? OK, so, we were in Lowe's today and I asked one of the guys if they sold these types of masks. He said yeah, but they were sold out...and so were most other places in town that sold the masks....such as Walgreens and Wal-Mart.

At any rate, I still think we can get some cheaper, and return the Amazon order, but ya never know.

I'm just reading through this thread for the first time. It's like a time capsule of the past 2 months.

Anyway, did you wind up donating those N95's to a local hospital? They really need them.

Another Pastor Charged With Defying Coronavirus Orders Against Large Gatherings

‘RECKLESS AND IRRESPONSIBLE’
Tony Spell said he didn’t think his congregation was at risk of being infected because the virus was “politically motivated”.

A Louisiana pastor was charged Tuesday after repeatedly violating a state ban on large gatherings amid the coronavirus panic, authorities said.

Mark Anthony Spell, the pastor of Life Tabernacle Church in Baton Rouge, was issued a misdemeanor summons for six counts of violating the governor’s executive order, the Central Police Department told The Daily Beast. The counts are for each of the religious services Spell held after March 16, when Gov. John Bel Edwards announced the order banning gatherings over 50 people.

“Instead of showing the strength and resilience of our community during this difficult time, Mr. Spell has chosen to embarrass us for his own self-promotion,” Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran said in a statement to The Daily Beast. “Mr. Spell will have his day in court where he will be held responsible for his reckless and irresponsible decisions that endangered the health of his congregation and our community.”

Authorities said Spell’s last service was held on Sunday, when the pastor hosted about 500 worshippers at the church in Central, a city about 20 minutes from Baton Rouge. The pastor previously told WMTV he did not believe his congregation was at risk of getting the virus—which has infected more than 177,400 people and killed 3,600 nationwide—because he believed the virus was “politically motivated.”

84000 deaths projected.

This is a great data set with tons of info, if you guys are interested.
Fauci is now saying that if we do everything right from now on, it's going to be somewhere between 100,000 and 200,000 deaths. With Trump at the helm, it could be quite a bit more.
Trump needs to shut his mouth, head for the golf course and let people who know what they're doing start running the show.

China starts to report asymptomatic coronavirus cases

BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese health authorities began on Wednesday reporting on asymptomatic cases of the coronavirus as part of an effort to allay public fears that people could be spreading the virus without knowing they are infected with it.

China, where the coronavirus emerged late last year, has managed to bring its outbreak under control and is easing travel restrictions in virus hot spots.

But there are concerns that the end of lockdowns will see thousands of infectious people move back into daily life without knowing they carry the virus, because they have no symptoms and so have not been tested.

Up to now, the number of known asymptomatic cases has been classified, and it is not included in the official data, though the South China Morning Post newspaper, citing unpublished official documents, recently said it was more than 40,000.

In an effort to dispel public fears about hidden cases of the virus, the government has this week ordered health authorities to turn their attention to finding asymptomatic cases and releasing their data on them.

Health authorities in Liaoning province were the fist to do so on Wednesday, saying the province had 52 cases of people with the coronavirus who showed no symptoms as of March 31, they said in a statement on a provincial government website.

Hunan province said it had four such cases, all of them imported from abroad, it said in a statement on its website.

The National Health Commission is due to start reporting aggregate, national data on asymptomatic cases later on Wednesday.

There is debate among experts about how infectious asymptomatic cases are but the commission has said all cases would be centrally quarantined for 14 days.It said 1,541 people with asymptomatic coronavirus infections were under observation as of the end of Monday.

China has had more than 81,000 cases of the coronavirus and 3,305 deaths.

Ugh. This guy needs to watch a youtube about the Black Death. Being Christian doesn't protect you against an infectious disease.

Or read Masque of the Red Death.

I hope the best outcome for us all.
I just found out that my cousin who passed yesterday morning, did pass from the virus. She went to the hospital in Lebanon and they sent her home saying she had a bad case of bronchitis, she died in her sleep.
Now they are saying she it was the virus and she should have been admitted. Did someone make the wrong call? It doesn't matter now, what matters is we learn from it and try to prevent other tragedies.
That is awful. Sorry for your loss.

That wasn't my point at all. My point was/is that many, many of you in here keep pointing back to when he should have acted more strongly...and that lives have and will be lost because of it. Yes, let's all agree on that point.

The issue, now, in my mind is, how has/is he responding from there? Well, he and his team are out there every single day providing response updates, while, I believe, doing all he can to get us out of this mess. Sure, there are still shortages on equipment, supplies, and the like...but I think he has been engaging Congress, Governors, manufacturers, suppliers, etc. at every turn.

Sure, we can discuss and debate how well (or not) he's doing that, but my goodness people, can we at least try and somewhat come together during this crisis and give the man at least a little bit of credit/support moving forward?? If not, then so be it. Nothing to really say there.

However, I choose to be optimistic that he's taken charge and, I believe, doing everything within his scope to eliminate this virus and save lives. The graph I shared was just an indicator that seeming shows others feeling this same way. Hope that makes sense.

Actually, it was @SlyPokerDog who, I believe, said he was going to donate a bunch of the masks he had purchased - like, 2 big boxes worth.

We do have 8 of them, but our extended family has none, so we're keeping them just in case. As for now, the package remains unopened.

Thanks for checking in. :)

Give him credit for what exactly? Gimme a fucking break.

Is it a better idea to keep them just in case instead of letting doctors use them in the next couple weeks to actually save lives?

I get that we all want to take care of our own. I think of you as a pretty devout, wholesome person. If six months from now you are cleaning out your garage, how are you going to feel when you see that package remains unopened, while doctors and nurses in your area were getting infected because of bad masks?

Or what if there's a doctor shortage in your area because too many get infected. Who will treat your family? Is it really safer holding on to those masks?

Sorry, I'm not trying to pick on you over this relatively little thing.

I am trying to make a larger point. I think it's natural for all of us to grab what we can for our family (hence the toilet paper runs). I don't agree with Trump on much, but I do agree we are at war here. In a war, you have to look out for the greater good, and usually by doing so you are also doing what's best for your family.

What gave you that impression? ugh this is just so frustrating.

I've been reading his posts for years--probably at least a decade. I disagree with his politics immensely, and I don't always follow his logic, but I get the sense I'd be quite happy to have him as a friend.

As have I. But his utter ignorance of facts to push his agenda is tiring. Even the most staunch conservatives I know in my real life have come around to acknowledging how flawed Trump has been in dealing with this crisis. But here, we get posts like this: http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/abortions-included-in-tennessee-ban-on-non-emergency-surgeries-amid-covid-19-outbreak.355320/

At this point, this isn't even a question of politics to me anymore. It's morality. Some people are on the right, some aren't. It's fucking sad that a large, yet vocal minority of this country still are wrong even after facing raw hard facts.

Godamighty, if Trump really was taking charge I would be exponentially more worried. Governors and health care workers are taking charge.

I just spoke with my wife. We'll be donating all the masks we have. I'm not certain where to take them locally, but I'll figure it out.

Thanks for the heads-up.

You know, if I kept making posts about a subject and most of the responses I'm getting is clapback, and they're from people who are far more educated than I am, far more eloquent than I am and in some cases from people who *agree with me* politically, I'd probably stop and look at my own motives for posting the same thing over and over, and trying to make funny comments in the middle of the discussions.

It's either because I'm oblivious of how I'm coming off, unwilling to admit I'm wrong about something and change my behavior...or I'm just trolling people for effect.

On CNN Mike Pence just said we are one thousand days ahead of the Coronavirus.

Gotta be one of the best well thought out and articulated posts I've read in some time...kudos.
