Just found out my 96 y/o grandpa has tested positive for covid19. He suffered a stroke last month. He has been in a rehab for about a week after being in the hospital for about two weeks before that.

He is one of the few remaining world war 2 veterans. Last year he punctured his lung. Two years ago he broke his hip. I know he can get through this but man oh man

Sorry, HCP. I'm starting to hear of more and more people I know who are sick with this virus. Only one so far got sick enough to require hospitalization. He's doing better now, but it was touch and go for a while. With this new more contagious variant getting a toehold around the country, I'm afraid it's about to get real bad before it gets better.

Damn... sorry to hear this! Take care of yourself, Brotha!

Sorry dude. Hope he pulls through.

Just do a national lockdown! Ground all planes.

Keep people in their homes. Use the military to make force the issue.

I live in LA. We are worse than anywhere.
I literally have friends dying bro. 1 last week and one is on a ventilator right now. They need to flip the script on what we've been doing. It ain't working.

Shit i have 50 family members in LA, you don't have to tell me how bad it is down there.

I have friends dying too and my friends and fiancee are on the front lines.

And we have been more restricted here in LA than most places in the US. Haven't had indoor dining since March. Barely have had outdoor dining until they banned it last month. Activities restricted. Mask mandates.

Its bad out here, I won't even go to Costco or Target right now.

How long have Gov. Kate Brown and Oregon Health Authority Director Patrick Allen known that each day, seniors represent the majority of people dying in this pandemic? How long have they known that vaccines were being produced at “warp speed”? How many unused vaccines have not been delivered to vulnerable Oregonians? The answers clearly show that Brown, Allen and their team have mismanaged the vaccine rollout. Oregon is near the bottom of the list of states in the percentage of vaccinations used.
Recently, our friends, who are in their 70s and live in Georgia, received their vaccination dates, which are 10 days from now. Even as Georgia held a high-profile runoff election, the state has managed to get its seniors vaccinated. Florida seniors, including the snowbirds, are being vaccinated. Brown and Allen cannot blame the federal government or any other body for their incompetence. They have vaccines, and more are coming. They should do their jobs. Cut the red tape and get the vaccines to vulnerable citizens, including Oregon’s seniors.

I guess it took an hour and a half to introduce everyone on Kate's CV19 committee. They are the ones that will determine who gets vaccinated. They wont have a concrete plan till end of January.

If grandpa made it through WWII he'll get through this!

Is he still at the rehab?

afaik yes and hasn’t shown any symptoms

Is he close to being discharged? I know that previous outbreaks at nursing homes they made everyone stay there and only allowed the really sick ones to leave. The doctors said the reason our family member died from covid is because she waited too long to finally go to the hospital. If grandpa isn't ready to leave he needs to know that if he gets anything more than a cough and mild fever he needs to call you guys.

I'm in the 1a group of people that can get vaccinated. I could get vaccinated tomorrow if i so choose.

I've chosen to wait until February. I have long said that I was going to wait until the first group of people went through BOTH doses to then see what the efficacy is. I e heard multiple first hand and second hand accounts of how sick the 2nd shot can make you and to plan to take a couple days off work. Again, preliminary, but thats what I've heard.
