I find it odd how they attempt to project these suggestions as some sort of mandate or law, using language that literally infers what people “can” or “cannot” do. Like Biden saying people ‘may’ be able to have a small get together by July 4th, IF certain steps are followed. Does anyone actually believe these suggestions are legally binding in any way? They are trying to tell millions of people that in a few months they may be able to do things they’ve already been doing for the last year.

Interesting you somehow deduced that I think these suggestions are actually regulations, when that is the exact premise I was going after. I think they carefully choose their wording to sound more authoritative than they actually are, is what I was getting at. I was just going off what Kate Brown said. She said they were examining options to give businesses the option to lift masking and distancing requirements - AFTER verifying vaccination status. It wasn’t mentioned in the article but in the attached video news snippet. What is your take on that comment?

And yes it is. You’re not required to provide personal medical information in exchange for unrelated goods or services. It’d be like a business asking if you’re gay or straight. It’s private, personal information, and when you factor in health and medical history HIPAA absolutely comes into play.

Hipaa would apply if the company asked your doctor, and the doctor provided them that information without your consent. Them asking you has absolutely nothing to do with a hipaa violation, private businesses arent covered under hipaa regulations.
