I was just going off what Kate Brown said. She said they were examining options to give businesses the option to lift masking and distancing requirements - AFTER verifying vaccination status. It wasn’t mentioned in the article but in the attached video news snippet. What is your take on that comment?
I think it's unfortunate that low paid workers are going to be stuck enforcing the rules if their company decides they still want to require mask wearing, but I suppose they already have been many places.
But hipaa has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, HIPPA and examining someone's vaccine card might clash. You'd need a qualified lawyer to answer that.

Nah, just need a general understanding of HIPAA.
I don't know because I do not have the time nor the eyesight to read the fine print and leave it up to the thousands of others who have preceded me to know and approve of what ever I'm signing.

HIPAA refers to what medical personnel can release. It is absurdly weak, but that's another issue. It doesn't apply to anyone asking you, although you are within your rights to not answer.

There are medical questions I refuse to answer, but I have no problem saying I got Covid vaccine.

Pfizer and Moderna vaccines cut the risk of getting sick with COVID-19 by 94%, the largest real-world CDC study confirms - and just one dose reduces the odds of illness by 82%
  • CDC compared vaccination status of 623 health care workers who tested positive for COVID-19 to the status of 1,220 who tested negative
  • People who tested negative were five-times more likely to have been fully vaccinated compared to those who tested positive
  • Two doses of vaccines made by Pfizer or Moderna reduced the risk of developing symptomatic COVID-19 by 94% - in line with trial results
  • A single dose cut the risk by 82% - a higher effectiveness than was found in trials
  • The study did not include asymptomatic patients, so it doesn't prove that the shots prevent people from getting COVID-19 altogether
  • However, the much higher rate of vaccination among people who tested negative suggests the shots likely to prevent transmission

This is starting to become a no brainer. The vaccine is available and i don't know anyone who has had it that has had any serious adverse effects. Yes some got a bit sickly feeling but it passed quickly.
Go get vaccinated.

*Unless you play for the Yankees
The Yankees aren't sick with Covid. Only 1 has any symptoms at all.

But according to multiple public health experts, the main takeaway from the Yankees’ outbreak should be that all but one of the affected individuals was asymptomatic, meaning the vaccine is working. The CDC consistently has warned that some “breakthrough cases” will emerge and that “there will be a small percentage of people who are fully vaccinated who still get sick, are hospitalized, or die from covid-19.” The promise, rather, was a lower likelihood of infection and a much lower likelihood of severe outcomes.

And yes it is. You’re not required to provide personal medical information in exchange for unrelated goods or services. It’d be like a business asking if you’re gay or straight. It’s private, personal information, and when you factor in health and medical history HIPAA absolutely comes into play.
Another person who has no clue what HIPAA is.

I got no reactions other than a slightly sore arm after the second shot. My wife, however, got very sick after her second shot which lasted for almost a week.

Yep. The numbers change every week. Our response is based on those numbers.

Fewer rules aren't "new" rules. It's just fewer...

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-weekly-deaths-covid-fall-lowest-14-months-2021-05-17/

Complaining about rules then complaining about fewer rules makes it seem like you're just complaining for the sake of complaining...
I was the first one to say "new rules" so I guess I should have specified what my complaint was really about and that was the poor communication that has come from the governors office these past couple weeks. I only used "new rules" because that was in the title of the OPB article I linked. That's all.

I don't think saying "new rules" is a problem. Complaining about restrictions for a year, then complaining about restrictions being relaxed as numbers are dropping seems less than productive.

K. Just wanted to clarify my position. I'm getting my second vaccine dose this afternoon, so I'm all about having less restrictions!
