Lanny, like I mentioned in my post I dont like it when either party skips down to avoid a vote/the job they are paid and voted to do. Im all for the cause but not the bush league tactic, which is what I view it.
That wasn't my point. My point was why can't Democrats level the playing field. Must they perpetually be at a disadvantage?

Two MORE runaway Texas Dems test positive for COVID - bringing total to FIVE - claiming it shows their 'sacrifice' for 'democracy': Photo shows infected fugitives meeting with Kamala before she made unannounced visit to Walter Reed
  • Two more Texas Democrats have tested positive for coronavirus during a trip they took to Washington, D.C.
  • Three Texas lawmakers had previously tested positive on Friday and Saturday
  • San Antonio Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer said on Sunday he was among the two new positive tests while Austin Rep. Celia Israel was among the group of three
  • Vice President Kamala Harris went to Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland on Sunday for a 'routine doctor's appointment'
  • Visit comes after Harris said she will not quarantine or getting tested after she met on Tuesday with two Texas lawmakers who tested positive for coronavirus
  • At least 60 Democratic lawmakers from Texas fled the state on Monday to block the passing of an election integrity bill proposed by Republicans
  • The Democrats packed into a private plane bound for DC not wearing masks
  • In the intervening days, the group has met with many high-powered politicians in the nation's capitol, including Harris and Senator Elizabeth Warren

Technically, unless you pay taxes in Texas, the current group aren't doing it on your tax dollar.

You are correct, I wasnt clear, generally speaking of when they do it anywhere like the republicans have done by leaving down.
My fav pres said "if you want changes win the vote"

It would be like if you won a bet that whomever can spit the farthest wins the right to drive the losers car, but the loser takes the fucking keys and runs away thinking the winner will get tired and leave.
Games like this piss me off about politics much like religion does.

My favorite Pres said "if you want to change the law win the vote".
Republicans did that shit here and it me off along with most dems.

Hard to win the vote when voter suppression laws make it harder to vote, when gerrymandering gives Republicans built in advantage, when millions of people are kicked off voting lists without notification, when election oversight us being moved from independent commissions to partisan appointees, and when states including Georgia and Arizona have passed laws literally allowing state legislators to overturn elections.

So, no evidence... gotcha. It probably should be deleted.

There was a tiny bit of validity to the argument about tech companies being private companies and having the right to censor. This is if we pretend they aren’t monopolizing public discourse, that is.

Now that it’s been admitted that the current administration is colluding with these companies to single out certain materials, that argument is out the window. So now we have state run media, and even worse, state run public discourse.

It’s not surprising that an administration that talks to their citizens like children would think they have the authority to mitigate their speech as well.

Never have I disagreed with that. I'd just like to shine the light on the fact that these people have typically been denied the education that the rest of us have been blessed with. Okay, you've got this education so there should be no excuse for the rest of us fucking it up.

Still trying to push the narrative that Blacks and Latinos aren’t educated enough to have ID or know how to use the internet must create an inner struggle for liberals when they try to suggest it with a straight face while simultaneously using race relations as the keystone of their policies.

No, the only one who is saying that is you.

...

Voter ID and how it affects minorities was discussed in this thread.

When you have the time you should read it because it was a very good debate.

Thanks!
So they are helping them track down and flag misinformation. How is that a problem?

If somebody is spreading provably false information we should do everything in our power to flag it...

Not doing this allows foreign powers to have an outsized influence on the will of the American people.

The problem is the very loose definition of “misinformation”. Look at how many things were called misinformation at the beginning of the pandemic that the media is now forced to accept as fact, or at least viable. They’ll just delete anything that might make them or their cronies look bad, that’s all it is.

I hope you realize today’s Democratic administration censoring information they don’t like is going to be tomorrow’s Republican administration doing the same thing.

What things are you referring to which were called misinformation and now accepted?

I don't like democrats any more than I like republicans.

Flagging a post isn't censorship.

The problem is not so much misinformation (everyone gets things wrong sometimes) as disinformation (intentional lies).

As long as you've got a gun, you can get a shot anytime you want.

They can't censor everything. Even at private companies people have certain freedoms of expression, yes even in the Army.

Nothing can be censored without U.S. Supreme Court approval. They're touchy about censorship.
