Gov. Greg Abbott makes urgent appeal for medical staff come to Texas to fight surging COVID and tells overwhelmed hospitals to postpone all elective surgery - but refuses to lift his ban on mask mandates as virus rips through state
  • Texas is ranking second only to Florida for new daily COVID-19 infections
  • The governors of both are resisting reintroducing masks and social distancing
  • Texas's governor, Greg Abbott, on Monday issued a cry for help for medical staff
  • The state capital, Austin, only has six available ICU beds, 499 available hospital beds and 313 available ventilators for 2.4 million people
  • Statewide the rolling two-week daily average of new COVID-19 cases in his state has increased by 165 per cent
  • Only 45 per cent of the state's residents have been fully vaccinated against the virus

He is following that stubborn attitude that Texans inherently have. The Governor should initiate masks and stop being a political barnacle on the the political landscape. Fool! .

Of course he's not. His political future doesn't depend on minimizing cases or deaths or the general good of Texas--his political future depends on hewing to Republican dogma about masks and vaccines.

Two ERs in Texas have SHUT DOWN and staff moved to other hospitals to deal with surge in COVID patients: State sees cases rise by 116% in last two weeks
  • Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Texas, closed its Commerce location to bring staff to main campus to help with a Covid surge
  • Texas Health Hospital in Rockwall did the same, as both central Texas hospitals are overwhelmed by the virus
  • Both hospitals built outdoor tents to increase capacity of COVID-19 patients that could be treated
  • Gov Greg Abbott has banned mask mandates in the state, but pressure on him to lift the ban has been rising
  • New cases have grown in Texas by 116% from 522 new cases a day on average to 14,149

Down at South Beach State Park Newport and nobody is wearing mask inside or out.
And this place is a zoo!
We havent been inside anywhere but we walked by a bunch of restaurants on the Wharf no mask.
I wonder come friday or whenever the mandate stats just how many of these tourist attractions will require it?
