The vast majority of those people died before the vaccine even came out, calling them ‘unvaccinated’ is technically true, but also extremely misleading when attempting to use their deaths as a lesson in vaccination.
How so? They were not vaccinated. They died. It's pretty clear cut... Nobody is blaming them for anything.

I don't think you should be punished, but I think people should have the right to know that you don't care about keeping them safe.

Unvaccinated people should be treated only until a vaccinated person needs a hospital room.

Then a room should be cleared for the vaccinated person, and the unvaxxed person should be treated in unvaxxed tents or warehouses by the medical professionals who also choose to remain unvaxxed.

No care at all should be diverted from the vaccinated public toward an unvaccinated person.

If this doesn't work out hospitals should just stop taking in unvaccinated people.

This is not a question of punishment, but resources.

The idea of a vaccinated person dying due to lack of resources caused by unvaccinated people is an absolute travesty. The unvaccinated person CHOSE their circumstance.

I find it an odd premise that two people suffering from the same illness should be segregated because one got a treatment that was supposed to work but didn’t. But fine. I also don’t agree with the idea that people should be denied healthcare or elective procedures simply because they are unvaccinated. It is irrelevant at that point if they aren’t suffering from covid. It’s completely outside the argument of unvaccinated covid patients “filling hospitals”. If a guy is bleeding to death or has cancer it’s not because he’s unvaccinated.

I also find it odd though that we see this push-pull in the narrative where it goes from “I got my vaccine I’m good, you’re stupid go ahead and die” to “You’re going to kill me if you don’t get the vaccine”.

You're either worried about the unvaccinated dying, or you don’t care and fuck them. I feel like people should just pick one because these two ideas don’t exist together in any logical reality. One negates the idea of the vaccine being personally effective, and the other presents the notion that it is extremely effective and one shouldn’t have to worry after getting it. Let’s pick one and move on.

Except they are. They are being grouped in with people who chose not to get vaccinated, rather than it being acknowledged that they simply lived in a world where a vaccine did not exist. It is not a very forthright argument.

Suppose we can treat only one car crash victim. Two people are injured in a crash. One was wearing his seatbelt and driving responsibly. The other was drunk, speeding, driving in the wrong lane, and was entirely at fault in the crash. They have identical injuries. Who should we save?

I also find it odd though that we see this push-pull in the narrative where it goes from “I got my vaccine I’m good, you’re stupid go ahead and die” to “You’re going to kill me if you don’t get the vaccine”.

Most of us understand that the vaccine isn't 100% but is nevertheless very effective, so the inconsistency you perceive doesn't actually exist. We don't have to 'pick one'.

Title needs updating, mods. It's over 600,000 now and except for children, people who chose to be sick.

fake news. I believe over 300,000+ died before a vaccine was available.
How many were elderly forced into lockdown with covid positive people?

for all the complaints about misleading info…..

I've met @jonnyboy, great guy. His wife is even nicer. If you can have a socially distant beer with him you should.
Actually I was being a smart ass. I’m vaccinated and follow all the protocols, so I’m not too worried about it. And I would very much enjoy a beer with Johnny (he’s a Dead Guy fan!……the beer, not the COVID victim). But I think he’s in the northern part of WY and I’ll be hauling ass across the southern end…..but Johnny, if you’re reading this and going to be in southern WY the last week of this month, I’m buying…….

It's got nothing to do with blame. They weren't vaccinated so they count as unvaccinated deaths. As they should.

Nearly everybody who dies of covid-19 now certainly has themselves to blame. They are the reason the pandemic is still going in this country, and why there are still mask restrictions. As well as our leaders who are not offering enough incentive to get vaccinated.

Nobody blames the first 500k deaths. They were victims. Everyone is aware of that.

I’d enjoy that, I’ll keep it in mind! Never know, I’m up and down from Denver quite a lot. Why are you going through the crappy part of the state anyway?!

Alabama man, 73, dies of heart failure after 43 hospitals across three Southern states were unable to accept him because their ICUs were full of COVID patients
  • Ray DeMonia, 73, of Cullman, died of a cardiac failure after being transported more than 200 miles away to the only hospital with an available ICU bed
  • His family said their local hospital staff made calls to 43 hospitals across three states before they could locate the bed he needed
  • Alabama's intensive care beds ran out amid a Delta variant surge that brought more than 180,000 new cases across the US on the day DeMonia died
  • His family have called on others to get vaccinated to avoid the same tragedy

Well…..my goal is to actually spend some time in Colorado (only been there at Four Corners) but I thought I’d first drive into Nebraska and then drop down into the NW corner of Kansas. Maybe see some “off the interstate” parts of both states. There’s a couple of funky museums in both states I’d like to check out. Then I’ll cross CO via a more southerly route. No real interest in getting lost in the Denver “metroplex” and I enjoy the smaller towns anyway. But that’s why I’m going through southern WY…….and plan on hauling ass all the way. That wind drives me nuts. Two years ago I drove through in blizzard conditions, so this time should be better. The first two days will be some hard driving. The next 6-7 day will be a mosey on back home…..but if you’re anywhere near that isn’t a major detour, let me know. My plans aren’t set in stone. I just need a change of scenery and I’ve just been cooped up too long……

Zoo Atlanta gorillas infected with COVID-19
The 20 gorillas at Zoo Atlanta are divided into four troops, and members of every troop have shown evidence of infection. Rivera said it is likely that the virus made its way into the gorilla population from an animal care staffer who was asymptomatic when she came to work, but was tested later and was shown to be positive.

That staffer had already been vaccinated and was wearing the protective gear that has long been part of Zoo Atlanta protocol, including gloves, mask and a face shield.

There is no requirement that members of the Zoo Atlanta staff get vaccinated, though a high percentage of the staff has been vaccinated, said spokesperson Rachel Davis.

Because the gorillas live together in close proximity, it is impossible to isolate the affected members, said Rivera. All will be tested. As the affected gorillas recover from their symptoms, the staff plans on vaccinating the gorilla population with the Zoetis vaccine, which was developed for veterinary use and had been used at the San Diego zoo on its ape population.

Zoo Atlanta has already vaccinated its Bornean and Sumatran orangutans, its Sumatran tigers, its African lions and its clouded leopard.

Atlanta’s veterinary team is treating some of the gorillas at risk of serious complications with monoclonal antibodies, starting with the most senior members.

Those include Ozzie, who, at 60, is the oldest male gorilla in captivity. Rivera said Ozzie is showing mild symptoms. “We don’t feel that we’re out of the woods,” he added. “We’re taking it on a day by day basis.”

Humans are known to infect animals, but the distances between visitors to the zoos and the apes would make animal-to-human transmission extremely unlikely. The CDC says animals don’t play a significant role in spreading COVID to humans.

Other zoos have begun vaccinating at-risk animals, including the Detroit Zoo, which announced plans to vaccinate its gorillas, chimpanzees, tigers and lions.

COVID-19 has been known to infect tigers, lions, mink, snow leopards, cougars, dogs and domestic cats.

Wake Up Sailors, Scurvy Is a Hoax

I’m just a lowly seventeenth-century British sailor, not some fancy-pants seventeenth-century British sawbones, but there’s one thing I know for sure: I would rather walk the plank than suck on a single stinking lime. In fact, I will be giving a wide berth to any and all citrus fruits the captain brings aboard during this long and arduous voyage, because scurvy is a hoax, and I don’t trust foreign fruit.

You know what I do trust? My own body to protect me. I’m young and fit, and my childhood rickets has almost entirely cleared up. And as far as I can tell, nothing bad has ever happened to a young and fit sailor with just a touch of rickets who heads recklessly off to fight pirates and ghost ships for months on end with nothing for nourishment except barrels of stale, rat-infested biscuits.

So, no, I’m not “afraid” of scurvy. What’s the worst that could happen? My teeth will fall out? My bowels will bleed? I’ll die at sea, and my body will be cast into the murky depths by my equally moribund shipmates, who won’t even have the energy to say a blessing as octopuses and sea monsters feast upon my corpse? That doesn’t sound any worse than a little seasickness, and it definitely sounds better than occasionally sucking on a lime.

Yes, I know there are a thousand stories from old salts who say, “Oh, scurvy is so bad! Believe me, young man, you don’t want scurvy! Oh, the rats swarmed out of the biscuit barrels and dragged off my mate’s body before we could cast it into the sea!” To that, I say: Whatever. Sailing to the edge of the flat earth must have muddled your mind, old man. I’m sure I’ll be fine.

And while I may be fine, what I am not fine with is the Capitan’s new mandate that we must all take this so-called citrus cure. He claims that it’s necessary in order to hang onto our already extremely low chance of surviving this harrowing journey through uncharted waters. He says we must do it for our fellow seaman who truly are our brothers. He says we must do it for the common good. He says it is our noble duty. And to that, I say: Screw. Everybody. I’m in it for me and me only.

Listen, if you want to hide below deck licking limes and then later come above deck to enjoy the sunshine and your lack of jaundice and intact teeth and gums that aren’t leaking putrid black blood, then be my guest. But not even the Captain has the right to make me eat a nutritious and lifesaving fruit if I don’t want to.

But there’s more to this story, my friend, and if you are ready, I will open your eyes to the writing on the wall (literally—I read this on the wall of the ship’s head while I was taking a piss this morning, that’s where I get all my medical information). Consider this. Why would the powers that be insist that the only cure for this supposed dreadful disease is to eat these unknown, untested, and totally experimental fruits? We know that limes, lemons, and even oranges are filled with acid, and is acid not caustic? Is acid not, in fact, deadly when it becomes too strong? Could it be that the acid of these devil fruits is the true cause of scurvy? Does “scurvy” even exist? Or is it all just an elaborate hoax designed to take away our God-given right to needlessly suffer a totally preventable malady?

You see it now, don’t you? Scurvy is nothing more than a made-up, foreign-fruit-induced plague, and I, for one, will not be silent! I will not be a sheep, er, I mean, I will not be a fish! I am a man! A very, very painfully misguided man, and I swear to you that the juice of a lime will never pass my lips—at least until the internal bleeding starts, and then I’m sure I will go along with whatever old sawbones says. And I definitely want access to that new experimental leech treatment.

I have always been reluctant to encourage you, if for no other reason than to avoid drawing your acerbic attention……but this is fucking brilliant! Don’t let it go to your head……..

I wish I could take full credit for it, but I didn't write it. My cut-and-paste skills do deserve praise, however!

Hey once the vaccine is approved by the FDA I’m sure everyone will take it and stop with the protests and screaming at kids and teachers at school. I’m sure it’s not just fucking dumbasses who just cannot handle being told to do something and not to “tread” on them and their “rights”. That can’t be it. I am sure none of them have been vaccinated for all the other deadly diseases, why start now?

Have you seen his head? There's a lot that's gone into it that's made it swell a full three hat sizes.

They probably don't brush their teeth because someone told them they had to brush their teeth.
Horse de-wormer works better than a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Still not recovered. Thought i was about over it yesterday. New wave of congestion aNd headaches rolled in today. Nausea and mild diarrhea and still not much energy.
After reading up more, the headaches might last for weeks and weeks. They can get bad. Earlier today my whole right side of my temple and top of head, eyebrow and eye just pulsing with pain…
