Anyone watch OmicRon DeSantis’ speech today? Couldn’t catch his breath. It was uncomfortable to even watch if you’ve ever had asthma or breathing problems

Don't get vaccinated, that's your right.
But don't enter the public space, that's my right.

It is known for some time now, that vaccine does not protect against spreading the virus. So, really, if you concerned, you should stay home as well.

Your fear can't be the law.

Let's say I am afraid of black people. They are violent and they are the ones that occupy most beds in jails because of that. So, for this reason, they should not enter the public space. Sounds good to you?

I didn't think so:)

I'm actually ok with that. As long as we allow hospitals to reject anybody who isn't vaccinated. Then the healthcare workers who didn't want to get vaccinated can take care of the unvaccinated covid patients.

Yeah, works for me.

That's great idea. Let's do hospitals for smokers with smoking doctors taking care of them. And so fat doctors taking care of fat people. It should be done 500 years ago. Instead people build more burger kings. How is that possible.

Smokers and fat people aren't overburdening our hospitals. Unvaccinated people are overburdening our hospitals so that I have trouble getting my elective surgery that will extend my life. I vote no on your suggestion.

We round in circles here, so let's just agree, that before the virus there were only generally healthy people in hospitals. Just for elective surgeries. And two with broken legs.

Just found out a friend from highschool died of Covid on 1/3. We were really good friends back in the day, he even spent 6 months living with me in New Zealand for that chapter of my life. We had a falling out and hadnt talked in decades now. He was 43, had a wife and 3 kids. I sure didn't want him to die a horrible and preventable death though, I am kind of shocked over the news but it's hard to feel sorry for his stupid ass and of course he has a GoFundMe because his death is something his family was not prepared for. His poor kids.

The vaccine does not protect against breakthrough cases spreading the virus, that's true. But since an unvaccinated person is 7 times more likely to catch it than a vaccinated one - the vaccine reduces the spread simply because there is a smaller amount of people to spread it, so - what you are saying is, again, wrong.

Vaccines do reduce the spread because there is a smaller number of carriers to spread it.

eminence front
An act. A pose. A front. Usually a put on, that is put on just long enough, to win favor. To exalt ones status as a morally intact person, when the opposite is true.

None of those are epidemic proportions like covid-19. They are very predictable and not nearly as easily avoidable.

I'm sorry but that comparison is insane. It's just absolutely dishonest.

There is no vaccine for those things. They aren't contagious.

You're just being ridiculous.

Damn. Sorry for the loss.

Up to date source for your claim?

https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-breakthrough-data (Data from Jan 2, 2022)
  • Beginning the week of December 13, 2021, after the emergence of the Omicron variant, vaccine effectiveness against cases began to decline again. In the most recent week, vaccine effectiveness was 77.8%. This means fully-vaccinated New Yorkers had about a 78% lower chance of becoming a COVID-19 case, compared to unvaccinated New Yorkers. The New York State Department of Health will continue to closely monitor trends in vaccine effectiveness as the epidemic evolves.
https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Do...-tables/421-010-CasesInNotFullyVaccinated.pdf (Data from Jan 5, 2022)

Unvaccinated 12-34 year-olds in Washington are • 2 times more likely to get COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 12-34 year-olds.
Unvaccinated 35-64 year-olds are • 3 times more likely to get COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 35-64 year-olds.
Unvaccinated 65+ year-olds are • 6 times more likely to get COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 65+ year-olds

The NY Data shows 5 times less likely, the WA data shows between 2 times to 5 times - so the 7 times I remembered might have been from the Delta data, but the general idea still stands.

Add the fact that at least in the past the Mayo clinic showed that vaccinated breakthrough cases last a shorter time than unvaccinated cases - thus have less time to spread the disease - and the point still stands.

Also, remember that at the end of Dec, only 30% of the fully vaccinated got a booster, so these numbers should improve as more people get boosted.

Vaccines not only protect from severe cases and deaths, they also contribute to slowing the spread.

Get vaccinated, people.

I currently know 3 teenagers quarantining with their second case of covid-19.

I'm sure they'll all be ok, but they aren't having a good time. Wonder if they'll get vaccinated after this?

Not to mention the length of time vaccinated people shed the virus is shortened which also reduces the spread. But that's also been repeated 100 times in this thread so I don't know why I'm wasting another 30 seconds of my life typing this. There will always be another royo to come along with the same tired arguments. Fortunately I've stopped caring so it's just funny now.
