Trump and the Republicans have gone all-in on "reopening" the country lately. They're demanding that churches be given approval to meet as an "essential service" and that schools be reopened so that childcare is provided and parents can go back to work. Trump is now threatening the governor of North Carolina with moving the Republican National Convention to another state if policies aren't changed to allow a business-as-usual convention presumably without social distancing and face masks. It seems to me that the fall election could hinge on how this plays out. If Trump gets extraordinarily lucky and Covid-19 remains in check due to seasonal influences, he's going to be crowing about how he was right and the Dems were hiding and killing the economy. On the other hand, if infections rise dramatically, and especially if the Convention takes place and becomes a super-spreader event with delegates taking the virus back home with them to their home states, Trump and his cronies are rightly going to get crucified. My money is, unfortunately because of human suffering, on the latter.
