(1) devin or marcus? marcus or devin? Who cares! Toronto has shown that a PG tandem of two talented kids can work in a time share. I think you'll see Marcus get more PT and more rope in the future.
(2) anyone else laugh at all the reports that devin is happy to leave dallas because avery is a micro-manager who calls all the plays? LOL! So what is Frank?
(3) haven't seen the nets play like that in a LONG time. Kidd is really talented when his heart is in it, but man! there's a whole other dimension now in the Nets' offense that we've never seen. kidd took, what, six shots a game, and would go to the FT line twice.
(4) (main point) something frank said a few games ago in the pre-game segment was interesting. he stressed how, when you get the ball, there are just three things you can do with it: shoot, pass, or dribble, and he called players who take more than two seconds to decide what to do as "ball-stoppers." it is true; over the past two years the Nets have been somewhat deliberate in the offensive sets, and you can really see the difference between them and a team like portland that makes very quick decisions with the ball. if this is something that frank has been focusing on this year, it may partially explain why magloire wasn't playing. Not only does he not have quick feet on defense, but when he gets the ball in the post, it seems like everything stops. Makes you also wonder why they got rid of House (again), because he is a quick decision-maker.
(4)(a) in light of (4) above, it seems that the players the Nets have gotten rid of all were slow decision-makers when they got the ball--collins, malik, magloire, and wright. as a result, the offense has a better flow. Boki is inconsistent, but he doesn't hesitate to do something when he gets the ball. it's also ironic that kidd is still stuck with three of those players. I wonder if this is something that Frank is stressing, or something that Kiki has stressed since he was brought on board. It's a little suspicious that those are the players the Nets got rid of.
(4)(b ) I'm willing to project now that the team the Nets will try to build is one of quick decision-makers who play strong defense. Sean, Boone, Swift, even Diop seem to fit this type--I've been pleasantly surprised by Diop (and swift). Also, Hassell doesn't hesitate to take that shot from the corner when he's open--he doesn't have to think about it first. Makes me start to wonder some more about whether Krstic will be back. He seems to be the biggest culprit of who is left on the roster. We don't know anything about Ager.
(4)(c ) so I think that Boki is in danger because of his poor defense. I suspect that if armstrong does not decide to retire, he'll be brought back. I think krstic is in danger, even when he was healthy he was a little deliberate and didn't have good foot speed on defense. Ager--as I said, who knows. I now think it is UNLIKELY that Wright will be brought back, if I'm right that this quick decision-making is something that the team is stressing.
