Giles may not be the best answer at C for the Blazers....but my goodness do they miss him from a size standpoint.

Last night's loss was just enough to put the Blazers below the Nets. If both teams put in a waiver claim on Boogie - Portland would get him.

how does that even work, is it based on record at the time they put in the claim or is it at the time the waiver process ends?

Also, would claiming him cost the same as signing him?

I imagine it is the record of each team when the waiver process begins, but am not certain.

As for claiming him, you claim a player at their current salary. I believe he was on a minimum contract, however, so I don't believe there's much difference between claiming and signing. Claiming would just be to ensure you actually land him.

Boogie wouldnt be much help. Need a Nerlans kind of a guy.

Claiming his contract, is essentially the same as him being 'traded'. His whole minimum contract salary (for the entire year - or $2.3M) gets put on Portland's payroll (and tax) calculations.

IF he clears waivers, then Cousin gets to pick where he wants to go from the available suitors and contract offers.

Assuming he chooses Portland on a minimum contract - Cousins would cost Portland ~$1.1M for the rest of the year.

Sounds like the Lakers waived a guy to give them a roster spot and under the hard cap, so I suspect he will sign there.

The reason they are giving waiving him is he doesn’t want to be a backup and wants more minutes. Doesn’t sound like what Portland is looking for or offering.

Of course! We like youth with potential.
I would say we like players who are going to accept the role the Blazers have to offer, not someone who was just released because they were not happen in that same role.

I wish him well wherever he goes. I think he's grown up from all his past issues and injuries. He will end up in LA or NY.

“I love him, I love him,” Anthony said of Cousins. “I’m trying to get him to calm down a little bit but I love him, his game, what he can do out there on the basketball court. He stuffs the stat sheet, points, rebounds. He can pass the ball, got a good feel for the game. He just does a lot out there but I’m just trying to get him to calm down out there a little bit. I’m working on that, that’s my project.”

Just sign pls

This team needs entertainment. After Olshey signs Cousins, he should replace Stotts with George Karl.

Stotts is more a Nards kinda guy than a Boogie kinda guy. No way would Portland sign Cousins. Horrible fit with Portland's "I'm ok you're ok" winning culture. Neil signed Blevins. I mean that makes smoke come out of my ears. Why would any sensible GM sign him if you want to win. Save money on uniforms next time Neil.

It's a payola transfer to Lillard's extended family. A way to exceed the max, the league rules.

Cousins should talk Lillard into adopting him. Olshey would find some under-the-table dough.

McGowan and Olshey are proto - typical Vulcan executives working for the good of the kingdom of Pisseattle

Couldn't Oshley have said: "Look let me make some calls to get him on a G-league".
Everybody on the bench should be able to contribute even if just a bit.

neil has literally tried to get boogie in the past. And he also traded for Whiteside, who’s even more high maintenance

Boogie is actually very close with Dame and CJ. They tried to recruit him to POR after his achilles injury but he chose the Warriors instead.

Why isn't he signed yet?

Why do we care about Blevins again?

My understanding is a two-way contract does not count towards a team's team salary cap.
Should Neil sign another 2- way player..... yes IMO. Is Blevins preventing that? No, I don't think so.
Can he sign another one with it affecting the salary cap? Yes, I believe so.

So my question is why does Blevins make smoke come out of your ears? What am I missing? Why do we continue to give a rat's ass about him?
