thinking about it....I'm not even sure what the NBA protocols are. What are the gauges for a player to be disqualified?

I think it's purposely ambiguous. But i would presume either a positive test, or continued proximity to others who have tested positive (via contact tracing).

In summer 2020, my work defined close proximity as spending at least an aggregated 15 mins in a workday within 6 feet of someone who tested positive. NBA prolly has their own definitions/rules.

I feel like 20 other players have entered protocols since I started this thread yesterday. I foresee a pause coming.

could very well be a stoppage. I think right now about 12-13% of the NBA players are out because of COVID. And lots of coaches and staff. There have already been 4 or 5 games postponed and at a certain point, making up those games will be a big problem
 
We had an employee that tested positive first week of the season. He told the contact tracer that he worked with me in the studio and sat a few feet from me one day. So I had to immediately go out the the Practice Facility and had to have a test. We were flying out to Sac for our first road game that afternoon. I obviously tested negative, but had to take a test 4 more consecutive days. Pain in the ass.
 
Listening to Rick Camila and Antonio Daniels on Sirius XM. They don’t think there’s any way the NBA does another bubble or shut down because it will cost too much money and there’s not enough preparation time.
 
This "entering protocol" business is quite vague. it doesn't necessarily indicate that the player actually tested positive.
 
Maybe Irving will never get Covid. Maybe he will. But his chances to acquire it will be higher than most once he begins to travel with the team on the road. Selfishness rules the day today. No surprise here. The vaccine is not fool proof, but it has shown it makes getting it, much more survivable .

and yet the nets (and obviously Kyrie) are putting what's remaining of their team and opposing teams in danger.

just because someone doesnt want to get vaccinated, it doesnt mean that person is against vaccination (in general)

kyrie dont want to get vaccinated, but ive never head him speak against vaccination, to each their own

It will be interesting to see how municipalities around the league deal with this. And how players feel about this. How many opposing players have, at risk, family members at home?
