A new angle.

The league doesn't shut down. Keeps playing with teams at half strength.
Blazers maintain a good healthy roster and we go on a 22 game win streak and win it all this year, due to teams at half strength.

This could be a blessing in disguise!

2021-2022 Covid nba champs..

The Portland Trailblazers!!!

I would take it.
They’re gonna start testing only symptomatic players sooner rather than later, I think.

it's also a possibility that postponed games will become more common than played games. And that the list of postponed games will become so great that the season will be abbreviated. That would raise the possibility that Portland's poor start to the year would be a bigger proportion of their record and drop their seeding into the play-in

I don't see how they can hold the playoffs if players are entering Covid protocols at such a high rate

besides that, all it would take is one player or coach on the Blazers to start dumping Blazers into Covid detention

How? The NBA already lost a bunch of money last season on the bubble and how do you get the prep time for it?

the bubble was 2 seasons ago. That's when the initial Covid was spreading, but not as rapidly as the Omicron variant is now.

at the rate games are getting postponed, it will quickly get to the point the games can not be made up on the current schedule. That will mean imbalance in team schedules, advantaging some teams and hurting others. Nobody wants that

I'd say the NBA will be tempted to modify their protocols. But all it will take is one player actually getting Covid to make the modification look terrible. And from what I'm reading, we are only at the very early stage of the Omicron surge

Stop being so logical and just let us win a ring!!! :)

Ironically this covid season may end up with the Cavs and OKC in the finals! The young guys outlast the old guys season.

Blazers must be doing something right....was happy to see McLemore rented a movie theater for the team and staff to watch a movie instead of having players wander around maskless Memphis all day before the game......smart move

Have a feeling there will be a press release December 26th shutting it down.

Covid's going to do nothing but get worse over the next couple of months. Hopefully, the NBA can hit pause and then pick up the season sometime in March or so and finish with a compressed schedule.

Have a feeling there will be a press release December 26th shutting it down.

Why?

1/3 of the league has no cases

2/3 of the league has less than 2 cases.

Seems like the remaining third should be forced to forfeit, if anything.

makes it look like the NBA is desperate to keep the season going. Fans and broadcasters aren't going to be happy watching scrubs when stars are home waiting for Covid test results
There was some G-league game on ESPN this weekend between Team Gold and Team Ignite, must have been a showcase game or something. Either way, I only watched about 30 seconds before saying "who tf are these guys?" and turning it.

And I mean “why” as in have you been hearing something.

Not “why shut it down”

The league needs strict safety protocols if they allow fans and players to continue....there are way too many maskless boneheads not following basic safety precautions....which could end up costing a whole lot of jobs in December which is a tough time to lose you job so yeah...it's about money. So is making movies and casinos etc available to the public

Because that won’t be the case in a week or two. With Delta still active, and Omicron starting to spread, holiday gatherings are going to be superspreader events.

Gary Trent Jr is out now for covid protocol but the Raps also just signed Nick Stauskas....a lot of jobs are opening up in the 10 contract area...not sure if Stauskas is a 10 day or has a deal
