COVID & the NBA (1 Viewer)

Why?

1/3 of the league has no cases

2/3 of the league has less than 2 cases.

Seems like the remaining third should be forced to forfeit, if anything.
... you mean the first third and second third?

It appears we will be one of the last teams to (inevitably) get infected. Will there be any decent hardship players left to sign?

Because that won’t be the case in a week or two. With Delta still active, and Omicron starting to spread, holiday gatherings are going to be superspreader events.
We will see if that is the case or not in a week or two.
Then they can think about cancelling games.

I'm pretty sure that the League has a plan in place to adapt to the impacts of Omicron.

preventative maintanence though. If we wait until its too late… its too late.
That’s why the teams who have issues… forfeit the games. (In my scenario)
If teams without issues keep playing each other, without issue, why cancel?

Now if they play each other and then a *majority* of the league has issues, sure. Ring it up.

I’m pretty sure their plan is in place.
Get your players booster shots.
Use replacement players if not.
Push through it.

“Silver, however, told Andrews that the league has seen through the data it has collected that players who have received booster shots have both shown either no symptoms or very mild ones and have passed the virus through their systems faster -- which could, at some point in the future, pave the way for the league to shorten the amount of time players have to miss.”

If they announce a “pause” the day after Christmas given what they’ve stated so far, I’d be a little surprised.

Seems more likely they choose to reduce the 10 day quarantine on that day than to announce a pause in play.

Could be. The bigger issue than impacts on players is likely impacts on crowds. This variant is likely to go off like a sky rocket. Hard to say what happens if governors in many states start shutting down NBA audiences.

that would require a complete realignment of the schedule. Thats a monumental task when considering logistics, events booked in stadiums, etc.

if you combine these two thoughts you know what it means?

inevitable champs this year!!! Schedule the parade!!!

How would that require any schedule change?
It’s the same exact schedule. You play the teams that can play, the teams that can’t play forfeit (L).

Damn, I’m good. ;)

Maybe I misunderstood you. I thought you meant realigning the schedule so teams who have enough players play each other and the ones that don't are now out. I see now you mean, just leave as is and for example our game against the net,s we get a win, they get a loss and we move on.

Okay. Well then again. We will be inevitable champions. I'm all for this!!!
