CRABBE MATCHED

Not sure how I feel about this. On one had Crabbe is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite player on the team. On the other hand, it pretty much guarantees someone is gonna get traded within the next year.

Whatever, glad to have you back Crabbeman! (for now)

I guess we gotta start calling him "No Harkless"

Rather trade something for something than lose something for nothing.

Harkless to accept the qualifying offer

I knew we'd match him, no sense letting him go for nothing.

I have to ask everyone that's disappointed we matched: why exactly are you disappointed????

Only reason I can think of is they don't think his contract can be moved. I don't agree, but I can see the argument.

What is there to say that hasn't already been said a thousand times in the other thread? It's a terrible contract with that trade kicker, because now it means we're pretty much stuck with the guy.

I think I agree with this decision. Paying $18.5M to him has a LOT of sticker shock, but I don't think this contract will look crazy in a season or two. Salaries on their way up.

I'm still not anywhere close to considering this a slam dunk good decision, though.

Yeah, I think this is great news. I love the kid. Just hope he feels the same way about the match

Because now we are totally cap strapped in order to retain a bench player. Means we likely have to say goodbye to Harkless =(

People said that about tons of contracts in the past and it's almost never been the case.

Sure this could be the exception, but with guys of Crabbe's age, it's probably not.

It doesn't matter now, what's done is done. I hope he lives up to the hype.

I also had the thought that maybe this just means Olshey really is going to try and flip CJ for a guy like Boogie or whomever in a package deal.

Arguable whether there are more roster changing opportunities with Crabbe's contract on the books for not. I think there are more, but that may just be my inflated opinion of the guy.

That would definitely be interesting. Crabbe is no CJ, but he does provide you with an in-house replacement if you move CJ for a star at another position. And that would potentially give Crabbe a chance to blossom, if there's any blossoming potential.

I really was not sure what they would do. And I was fine either way. I wanted him back, but acknowledged he was over paid. So as long as Neil has a long term plan regarding the cap........then I am glad we matched.
