Crabbe putting in work

I heard Danny Green's name thrown around when the offseason first started but was thinking we may have our own version in Crabbe. I hope his shot stays and if he keeps up playing hard defense, I can see us standing behind him as our starting 2. Let's hope he keeps it up!

Great article. Thanks for posting. I can get behind this guy.

A poor man's Danny Green, maybe. He plays the same way, just isn't as good at it.

I would start him at SF, only one who can shoot and defend as well.

I don't get this Crabbe love. He is a fringe NBA player. This report that he is finally puttin in the "work" gives me a little hope, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I think this is the starting shooting guard that we want/crave.

He has the size (6'6)

He's a shooter.

He's athletic (as shown in the gif above)

And he plays defense.

“You know who he remind me? A little bit like B-Roy (Brandon Roy), sometimes, the way he is. He’s cool and natural on the court,” Batum said. “They don’t do like crazy stuff. He does what he’s supposed to do. He’s good. And the same spirit, natural stuff, cool breeze like B-Roy was.”

I still think he reminds me of Allan Houston. The shooting form even looks similar.

Crabbe plays fine d too. His value isn't only related to his jumper.

It's fine. It's not great or anything, but he won't hurt you defensively, I guess.

That's not really a ringing endorsement though.

His main problem has been passivity. He certainly hasn't looked passive so far. He's already seen minutes on a much better team - he should get the chance to show what he's got. Whether or not he starts will depend a lot on how Stotts feels about seniority in the NBA. But he's certainly been encouraging. He still looks a little stiff to me - he doesn't flow like (say) Roy did, but I was certainly surprised and impressed by his range of offense last night - particularly the little floater.

He's not necessarily gotten many minutes. if he gets consistent minutes I think he has the potential to play d very well

It's funny that he was playing against Anderson, the guy I thought we were going to end up with, who is pretty much a pure 3-and-D guy. Anderson, by rep, should have destroyed Crabbe, just because he's a high motor guy, so the pwnage on that block was particularly sweet.

REALLY hate the hair and "shaped" beard, though. Those BETTER be just a summer fling.

I think theirs been too small of a sample size, After this year we will have a better idea of what kind of player he can be with more minutes. A big part of basketball is confidence, in his first couple seasons he got sparse minutes combined with a short leash... Lets see what he does given the opportunity.

It's funny because I made a comment on how he reminds me so much of Roy out there, even before Batum made these comments. Obviously he's not as good, but the way he moves, plays and even looks when the camera is panned out.

There was one game when I actually said "Wtf, did Roy come back?!"

If Allan Crabbe is our starting anything, we are going to lose A LOT of games.

Yeah, I know he was "8-0" as a starter last year. Spare me. He was hiding behind Aldridge, Lillard, Rolo, and Wes the entire time. This year he will not have that luxury.

8-0 last season as a starting SF

Well next season is about development so lets hope he gets the chance to show his worth.

No disrespect, but what made Roy special was his handle - he could get anywhere he wanted on the court with the ball in his hand - not too many players in the league that can do that, especially out of the PG position. Crabbe's demeanor might be the same as Roy's, but that's about the only thing, play-wise they have in common. If anyone on this team has some of Roy's stop and go and hesitate moves it's CJ.

Roy was by far a better player, don't get me wrong. But I enjoy having crabbe out on the floor trying on d. One area crabbe does not remind me of Roy is defense. Roy played matador d way too often.

I like it. Ill never dock a guy putting in work. The hair could be the start of enforcer crabbe.

Hopefully Crabbe noticed that his former coworker earned himself a $70m contract just by playing hard defense and hitting threes while playing his ass off next to Lillard. Whether he plays at SF or SG, that role is wide open for Crabbe to take on. The blueprint is just sitting there in front of him--and truth be told he has more natural tools than Matthews did in terms of length and athleticism.

You are absolutely correct brother. I was, by no means, saying Crabbe would ceiling to Roy's talent. Just found the physical and general similarities eerily similar.
