OT Crapping on the Lakers

LeBron is LeBron and the Lakers still suck. Will he go back to Cleveland?

He's averaging 39 minutes per game to get there. That's not much higher than his career average of 38, but he's quite old now and tends to break down under high use. So much for the load management that Westbrook was supposed to afford him--James probably has to play more to put out the fires that Westbrook creates which his previous, more competent supporting cast didn't.

Plus, it's just 11 games.

They probably have THT as their Anfernee Simons, so he's wildly inconsistent.

Which is maddening as a Simons fan, since he's in his 4th year.

Lebron should bounce after his contract is up and team up with Dame in Portland. Lakers are fucked, and have no real assets to get better anytime soon. That’s the funny thing about all this; Lebron in Portland is more realistic than Dame in LA.

I understand he wanted to set himself up for post NBA, and help his son, but if he really wanted to cement himself as THE goat, he would've gone to a franchise that wasn't a glamour league. His title in Cleveland has a lot more credibility than the one in LA or the 2 in Miami.

did you have any specific non-glamour franchise in mind?

yeah, my guess is he’ll start rethinking his decision if the lakers get bounced early or miss the playoffs. Also, I know LeBron likes spending time in Portland, mainly because of Nike, but I remember reading him talk highly of the city. We know he’s pretty flakey, so it’s not that far fetched that he’ll try and hunt a ring elsewhere before he retired. And we also know how he feels about Dame.

I don't seriously see LeBron leaving LA. He came when they were shit, so he was prepared to go through lean years. I think he'll play out the clock there until his son hits the league. If he does go anywhere it would be Cleveland again, I imagine (especially as they're really good already and he could slot right in).

One of many tonight on Twitter :biglaugh:

GUARANTEED if Dame was in LA and Westbrook/THT were in Portland, he would not be spouting the same nonsense. I guess some people can get paid for any old kind of stupidity.

Lakers are fucked. Who’s gonna trade for Westbrook without picks attached (of which the they don’t really have any) Only front office dumb enough to view him as an asset was their own.

They have no desirable pieces outside of Lebron and AD. Like, zero. Tucker is the typical big market player that gets hyped way beyond his value purely because of where he plays.

Lebron leaving is more likely than them becoming a contender again anytime soon. If they were smart they would just trade Lebron and AD and start over. But everyone knows that ain’t happening.

Every stupid Lakers fan's trade package includes poor Horton-Tucker to "sweeten" the deal, or worse, be the core of a deal.

THT and a pick for Grant?!

Wow what a haul for Detroit.

Remember when Carmelo Anthony was knocking down threes at the start of the season like he was Steph Curry and certain Lakers fans on this site (who shall remain nameless) were saying what a great pick-up he's been for the Lakers and how the Blazers could really use that kind of scoring punch?

Let's check back in on our intrepid chucking hero's three-point shooting:

Games 1-11: 52% (39 of 75)
Games 12-22: 32% (22 of 68)
Games 23-33: 31% (17 of 54)
Christmas Day: 29% (2 of 7)

But at least he gives you some great defensive effort and is tremendous at creating opportunities for teammates.

To be fair, Melo had 4 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks, and was a +10 tonight
