I'll be honest, I'm really torn. On one hand, LMA is pretty beastly at center, and if Hickson pans out at PF, they'd be a pretty sick tandem, like the old Garbage Man version of Zach Randolph teamed up with a shoot-from-anywhere LMA. With Hickson's nose for lobs and pick-and-rolls, you can't double off him to double LMA.
Anyway, if you think LMA and Hickson/whoever-we-draft are going to make a great tandem, you keep LMA.
However...
...and this is a big however...
If you're not so sure about LMA as Batman anymore, and you're not sure he can hack being a center, and you're pretty happy with Hickson's performance at PF, and you're thinking about blowing the whole thing up and starting over...
...trade everyone. LaMarcus for two picks? Done. Batum and Mathews for two picks? Done. Two picks for a top 4 pick? Done. If you go this direction, though, you need a few things to come out of the whole shebang:
1 - A Top 4 pick. Without a doubt, you need one of the top 4 picks in a draft.
2 - Three picks total. You gotta get some swings of the bat to find your home run.
3 - Best Players Available only! No drafting for position. If you traded everyone for a chance to form your own private 2012 NCAA all-star team, you can't be worrying about who works well with existing players.
4 - A free-wheeling coach. In many respects, this situation would be perfect for Kaleb. No expectations, a team so young he looks like an adult next to them, and plenty of time for them all to grow together.
5 - A GM who cares about scouting. You'll have 3-5 picks in this draft, but you need to maximize your chances for success with quality too. Picking BPA religiously, and scouting for gems in those non-lotto picks that a Matthews could net you would be valuable.
6 - Time, and patience. We will suck. But in three years we might not suck. Cakes and baking? Sure, we've been there before... speaking of which...
7 - A health inspector who is listened to. Duh.
But that's only if you were going to blow it up like some mustache twirling villain with a stick of dynamite.
