Crazy trade ideas

Well, kind of. I was trying to suss out his idea of a reasonable deal. If Oubre's an untouchable in Washington, then it doesn't really matter if we'd offer a first for him.

Sure, but I was responding to his comment that he wouldn’t give up a first for any of those players. Or at least that’s what I took away from it.

As for Oubre being untouchable? I think there are very few players you can label as untouchable and a bench player isn’t one imo.

Well, he said he wouldn't give up the first in relation to the reasonableness of deals; if he believes an Oubre deal is unreasonable regardless of pick inclusion, then it stands to reason that a hypothetical Oubre deal was excluded from the statement regarding willingness to give up a pick. It's roundabout, but the logic is there.

I wouldn't think so either, but that was the way I was interpreting tlong's comment.

Speaking solely for myself, I'd gladly give up a pick and other assets for Oubre.

We have nothing to offer Washington for Oubre that I would consider reasonable. That is what I was referring to.

And that includes giving up our 1st round pick which is likely to land somewhere in the 15-24 range.

Supposedly, Oubre would be on the block for someone willing to take back Mahinmi. Would Oubre be worth further hampering our payroll?

I think Zach Collins is pretty untouchable right now.

That second trade seems kind of complicated just to net us Evans. Actually didn't work on the trade machine. And I can't see how it gives Memphis incentive to take on Harkless. It seems like earlier you had a more simple trade for Evans. Like just Harkless for those three but we need to include our first round pick?
Trade exceptions don't work on the trade machine. Itd work.

If Memphis had to take on Harkless (who would probably start for them) in order to get Hood, they would.

Hayward is injured and won't play this season. They need scoring off the bench and he could provide that. He'd easily get 25-30 minutes a night in their rotation, slotting in at both shooting guard and small forward. Smart would play only point guard then.

Irving / Smart / Rozier
Brown / Evans / Smart
Tatum / Evans / Morris
Horford / Tatum / Morris
Baynes / Horford / Theis

It's beautiful and offers so many possibilities. You can go small ball with JT at 4 and Horford at 5, you can go big with Al and Baynes in front of JT, you can go for a lockdown defense with Brown and Smart in the backcourt. Perfection.
I don't think bumping Rozier and Morris out of the lineup to rent Evans is in their plans. Doesn't seem worth it.

Not sure what red font means but he’s not. Untouchable means you wouldn’t even entertain offers. Someone like Lillard for example. I don’t think Olshey would hesitate to offer Collins in the very unlikely scenario a Kawhi became available. I know that won’t happen, but the theory that we would include Collins in such a deal, takes him out of the untouchable category.

@PtldPlatypus invented the red font. It's to play devil's advocate.

Also, I believe NO and PA would certainly entertain offers for Dame for someone like the Greek Freak. So I don't think he fits your definition of "untouchable".

Agree to disagree then because I don’t think they would, just like Milwaukee wouldn’t either.

Regardless of how well we're playing, we have several guys that will be free agents this summer and I don't see the point in keeping them. We made the smart play last year by dealing Plumlee for Nurk and a pick. We're facing a similar issue with Davis, Vonleh, Bazz, and Connaughton.

The names that are being thrown around right now are Mirotic, Jordan, Tyreke Evans, Rodney Hood, Kemba Walker.

If Mirotic can be had for something along the lines of Asik and a pick, I'd like to see if we can pry him away with Harkless and a pick.

Then go for our blockbuster.

Middleton/Parker/Henson to Portland.
Jordan/Williams/Davis to Milwaukee.
CJ to LAC

Then in a separate trade send Vonleh/Aminu to Memphis for Evans/Wright.

Dame/Bazz
Evans/Connaughton
Middleton/Turner
Mirotic/Parker/Henson
Nurk/Wright/Collins

Crazy trade

Anthony Davis to Portland

Nurkic, CJ to New Orleans

Dame, Davis and Davis sound nice

Add a #1 pick then

Nurkic + CJ + pick
For
Anthony Davis + Second round pic coming back
3 picks wouldn't even be enough. If it were, I'd hope Neil would jump on that today.

Here's the thing:

Boston is the front runner if NOLA decides to make him available.

They can offer Tatum/Horford/top 5 lottery picks, etc. They have a ton of assets that they can throw at New Orleans.

Would Ainge pull the trigger on a Tatum/LA pick for AD? Seems like a no brainer but i was honestly shocked he traded for Kyrie because it cost them the BKN pick because he seems to over value his own players and never want to deal young players or picks.

So Greg Monroe has been bought out of his contract by the Suns....

If we can trade Meyers L. why not pick up Monroe!?

Leonard and #1 pick (protected) to Memphis for Evans and then sign Greg Monroe

I don’t know which idea is worse

But it is the crazy thread.

I would trade CJ for LaVine, Mirotic and the Bulls 1st rounder unprotected. We get better on defense, get better shooting at the 4, get Chief back to the 3 and get a better bench.

I don't know. Chicago will almost certainly not do that because they will likely have a top 7 pick and want to go young, so it's a moot point, but CJ is much better than LaVine at this point.

I think given our recent form and the fact we have a good chance to be 6th seed (I don't want us to be 4th or 5th seed, avoid Warriors before finals) we might make moves to improve the roster and make it ready to compete now.

Won't be surprised if we acquire both DeAndre Jordan and a decent wing before deadline (no idea who that could be, Evans? Mirotic?).
