We could use an extra 3 point option off the bench in the playoffs. He fits great with the locker room and knows both offensive, defensive systems. Get it done Neil!

How many 3 point shooters do we need off the bench? Leonard and Crabbe shoot them well. Even Henderson (percentage-wise) is good to this point.

He is just a really likeable guy it seems like, I am guessing that's why a lot of people back him
there is also that one time

Montero is the future. Wright is the past. Do not cut Montero for Wright. Maybe Kaman, or even Conaughton, but even then it's questionable.

Actually it's defense that DWright brings to the table

I could see him rejoining Wade in Miami...they need a guy like him

That much (if any) better then the 3 guys I mentioned? When they are put in the proper role, I have been very pleased with those 3 guys D this year as well. I would just pass.

Hendo is shooting well at the moment but isn't reliable; he only does it from the short corner. Crabbe is great. Meyers is fine shooting wise but he's so terrible defensively we can't play him in many matchups.

Wright would really be on the roster to play in place of Aminu or Harkless if we need a SF/PF shooter on the court. Some series he might not play at all but against certain matchups he could be a key role player.

I don't think they can sign anyone and stay under the luxury tax. They had to get a buyout with injured Beno just to sign Joe Johnson.

Wright wouldn't play. So, the larger issue is "how many end of the bench vets do you want?" NO doesn't want too many, that much is clear.

He was a huge letdown from the last time we signed him. No thanks.

The only additional role player we are lacking, for the remainder of this season, is maybe a rim protector. (And I doubt there is a rim protector that is worth a damn that is still available) There is no reason to give up a young player for any other type of role player. If they have no intentions of keeping Montero next year, than OK..... cut him. But If they are not sure...... then keep him.

I was never on board with it until now but I would seriously consider Larry Sanders as that guy. It would be more for taking a look at him in the off-season and hoping he grows into a role next year but I think a team who took him on now (if he wants to be taken on - according to reports he is almost ready to come back) would have a head start on keeping him vs trying to sign him this off-season.

I wouldn't mind him on the bench for injury insurance, but only if you cut Kaman or Pat C.

Wright was awful when he played for us. And he just played in China - that should tell you everything you need to know about his abilities.

Larry Sanders = misunderstood + deserving of a 2nd chance.
Right now I dont think there is a better situation for him than in Portland. Excellent and supportive leadership, great team environment, bunch of guys his age, plus weed is legal in oregon! I felt so bad for the guy getting in trouble for weed, I always felt like he would really be successful in a better situation.

could be another great NO reclamation project!

EDIT: I know he had other emotional issues as well but still....

Sanders would be a real gamble - but if he paid off, NO/Stotts would look like geniuses!

I don't think anyone is going to pay him more than the minimum in a "prove it" kind of deal. So really not much of a gamble. I would take him at even MLE money over Hassan Whiteside at MAX.

This. Plus he's still decently young.
