I know that's only meant for humor, but that's either a parody, or a little misleading. They're talking about thickness with the acupuncture needle, and comparing it to some made up #'s.

Because a match stick is NOT 42 mm wide or thick. It might be 42 mm long, but even then Im doubting that.

A match head is closed to 3 than it is to 4.2, so i think they just piled up #'s that sounded scary.

I have no clue, I was just taking a guess ,but if that is the case then I think its the other way around. they were trying to make it look like acupuncture needles are microscopic and nothing to the human skin.

It's not clear if they mean diameter or circumference. I assumed they would use diameter but if so I agree that seems to be off.

Even An OD would be off. 42mm = 1.65" NO way in hell the OD of the match head is over an inch. lol. These numbers are actually funnier than the intended joke! (which wasn't that funny)

It's 4.2mm not 42. So that's 0.165 inches

What was this thread about before those guys started joking about dick size?

I don't know, but blame @BLAZINGGIANTS He is the one who is holding everyone in suspense.

I think everyone is bored holed up in their cave waiting for the Blazer game to start. Things tend to run amuck or get derailed rather quickly during these times, lol.
 
When does a needle moving trade happen.

simple. It doesn't.

PA and NO are not splitting Dame and CJ for at least another year. Nobody else on the roster is worthy of gaining a needle mover in return unless we package all our picks to the right team.
With PA's love of the draft and how well NO is at the draft, I think they value the picks more than most other teams.


I hate to say it folks, but the best thing for the team in the long run is to probably use our picks. Think long term. It keeps us cap flexible for the long term.

The key thing we need is better big man development. NO needs to force Terry into hiring an elite defensive specialist to help the guards and a big man specialist to work with the young bigs.


SO @Rastapopoulos thread about the lottery, it came to be by a few people that the Spurs are the role model because of a combination of drafting/scouting and development.
We have the drafting down. We need the development.

If we trade our picks for a superstar now, we are living the life of the cap threshold long term with little flexibility it it doesn't work out.
As pointed out by @TBpup NO is not great at top tier trades.


I know I have posted many times about going the trade route, but lets be real. PA and NO are not breaking up Dame and CJ until at the minimum...the end of next season. They are going to give this experiment the full time it would require to be able to work. But if they do this, I think we should go the draft way, rather than a vet way. Let's trade up for josh Jackson, play him at the three, which in the long run might be better suited for him, and just use the Bulls philosophy of Center by committee, which is almost where we are at right now. If we cna somehow nail a guy like Noel without giving up anything but bench role players, then another plus. but if we are keeping Dame and CJ together, I think the best thing to do would be to trade up to nail us a supreme young guy who will be on a rookie contract so that we can have more money to build around the three of Dame/CJ/Jackson

I agree of Paul's love of the Draft but NeO has traded away so many Blazer picks. There was a stretch where they didn't have a 2nd round pic for something like 4-5 years until they got some back recently. No picks at all in 2014, (Gerald Wallace and Raymond Felton trades) traded away the 2015 1st round pick for Plumlee, and traded away the 2016 pick for Arron Afflalo, again having no picks until they purchased one.

Portland had no 2nd round pick in 2014, 2015, 2016, and don't have on in 2017 and 2018....much of which is Olshey's doing.

Of course Paul has shown he is willing to buy a pick but it's tough to find 'diamonds in the rough' when you don't even have a selection.

I don't think HCP's thread asking how you guys have so much time to be here was an honest question. I think he was secretly calling you out and astonished you guys spent so much time on S2. You guys are basement-dwelling nerds.

I think RoLo and Mo Williams were needle movers. They took our team from 33 wins to 54 wins and a second round appearances. Aminu and Plumlee were semi-needle movers since they joined a team that was supposed to be awful and ended up making second round. Just think how bad we would've been last year without those guys.

And Evan Turner was a needle-mover, taking a team that ended up making the second round and turning them into the awful team predicted the year before.

We were 15-24 last year. This year, we are 16-23. Consider the needle moved. Playoff performance is yet to be determined but if both Durant and Curry go out with injuries...
 
Bennett is a mixed bag. As a former 1st pick in the draft, he's clearly been a huge disappointment.

He loves to shoot the 3, but he's just a career .261 shooter. That drags down his overall FG%. The kid seems to be a better shooter than his numbers indicate.

His 14.9 PER is from a small sample set. Per 36, he's 15.7/10.6/1.6 with .7 steals and only .4 blocks.

His contract is a shade over $1M. Someone is going to take a gamble on him.

I know.

But TRob is halfway decent. Just not worthy of his draft selection.

His defense is good. Per 36, he's 12.5/15.2/1.8 with 1.7 steals and .9 blocks. He's hitting .511 (TS% .511, too) of his shots. All those stats, and DRtg and PER, too, are better than Ed Davis this year.
