Dallas, Here Come the Blazers?

History says we don't want to face Dallas in the first round. Dirk has never lost to us in the playoffs.

Seriously, fuck these laker fans.

TPF, I can totally get behind you ragging on these bitches in the RG now.

While I still hate him, it's almost kind of fun cheering for the Lakers and watching Kobe hit a clutch shot. Assassin.

We use to have one of those guys, a mini version of Kobe, if you will. Unfortunately he lost all his meniscus. :(

Lakers were a better matchup for us, ESP with Bynum hobbled. We have no one can guard Dirk.

Fuck that. I want the Blazers to go as far as possible. If second round is as far as we get, that's fine with me. I'll take the better chance of making the second round against Dallas than against LA anyday.

Totally agree. Plus maybe the Lakers will have an injury or two in the first round. You never know.

Nobody can guard Dirk. Dallas has nobody that can guard LMA, either. Knowing this, I'll take the Blazers' depth at the wing over Dallas and their guards. LAL have players that are a nightmare for teams, and Artest and Bryant are still both excellent wing defenders. Plus, Bynum isn't "hobbled". He'll be back soon, and fine.

Between Batum/Wallace/Aldridge/Camby, I'm sure the Blazers can run plenty of defenders at Dirk and make it tough for him.

Bring on the Mavs. Yes, Dirk is going to be Dirk, but I like just about every other matchup. Dre matches up favorably with their PGs, and Aldridge + Crash should be able to wreak havoc down low. Playoffs, baby -- PLAYOFFS!

Absolutely, Kidd is the ideal match-up for Miller, and if the Blazers can get by the Mavs, Fisher/BLANKY are a close second. We won't see a PHX repeat, where Miller can't keep in front of Nash.

I feel like it's a good omen that Dallas is the team where we first saw the new Aldridge.

Dallas is definitely the matchup I wanted. Dirk will get his, but who is he going to guard when Camby sits out? Gerald Wallace? Batum? Aldridge? They have to put him on somebody, and it ain't going to be easy for him.

Meanwhile Aldridge will also get his, but I'm a lot more confident that he'll do a decent job against anybody he gets put on.

Last time we played Dallas in the playoffs we were down 0-3, then pushed it to game 7 and almost pulled it out. Plus the national anthem incident happened, and that crazy run Portland had with the four consecutive fast break dunks. Someone find that, I can't pull it up on YouTube.

And Dallas was the team where we first saw Aldridge as a pro, period.

ZBo was huge in that series.

The game with the four consecutive dunks was in the regular season.

You don't remember that series?

We went down 0-3, then Mo started ZBo, and Zach beasted from then on.

25/15 in game 4
22/9 in game 5
21/10 in game 6
14/10 in game 7

Was at that game. The crowd during that 3rd quarter run was the loudest I've ever heard at the Rose Garden. The entire crowd was on their feet for the whole 3rd quarter.

ZBo was huge in that series.

So was Sabonis (PER = 32.0 for the series). He was hurt and and played limited minutes in the first five games, and sat out game 4 all together. But, in game 6 he went 7-8 from the field and had 16 points and 8 rebounds in only 12 minutes.

In game 7, Sabonis was the only one that kept the Blazers in the game in the first half when Sheed and Bonzi didn't show up ready to play (I think the two of them combined for 2 first half points). Sabonis could barely walk, but he still had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 3 blocks before he fouled out. Sheed and Bonzi played better in the second half, but it was way too little and way too late. Nick Van Exel just TOTALLY killed us. We were already in a hole at half time and with Van Exel shooting lights out in the 4th quarter, here was no way to come back and win that game.

Both NVE and Dirk hit some daggers in that 4th quarter. Those shots they hit seriously are etched into my memory.

Miller is gonna have a field day.

So is Brandon. Dallas can't play better defenders like Stevenson or Brewer for too long because they desperately need Terry/Barea's offense, and Roy can just take those two to the woodshed in the post.

I think the wildcard here will be Beaubois.

Ha ha! Isn't that Michael Dunleavy Jr. in the green vest at the 0.32 mark? He looks like he's about 13. Hard to believe he just finished his 9th season in the NBA.

Mike & Mike were talking about how Beaubois went down with an injury tonight. Not sure of the severity.

You make it sound like Sacto is some heavenly place . . .

Sacto is terrible, but that Anaheim arena is in an even worse location. There is nothing by it, other than a few hotels and old, ranch-style houses.

That still doesn't put it anywhere in Sacto's neighborhood. We drive by Sacto to Tahoe and won't even stop there to piss.
