Right now, Dame's averaging 24ppg, 7.3apg and 4.4 rpg with a 21 PER. That's happened 26x in history (by 9 dudes), with Westbrook and Dame on track to join this year. If you remove the PER requirement, Havlicek did it twice as well:

5x: LeBron James
2x: Bird, Chamberlain, Wade, West
1x: Jordan, Payton, Westbrook

Removing the rebounding requirement, you get a few more guys like Tiny Archibald and Allen Iverson, but it's also only been done 39x. Either way, Dame's in rarified air.

I mostly agree with this.

But participation in these games has generally resulted in massive improvements for the player in the subsequent season. Harden, Love, Curry, Demarcus, Davis, etc etc all came back as far superior players after playing for and practicing with Team USA.

Something to consider.

One remember K is not the coach this time around it will be Pop and he really care who you are the team that fits together will be the players will be on the team. So don't suprise some of the players that would automatic make it they might just be left off the team. Dame as just much chance making the other guards. But he better pick up his defense or he be going too.

Pop assumes the role in 2017 unfortunately. Nike/Duke will still be a hurdle this summer for Dame.

Kawhi/Draymond get in before a 3rd C and 3rd PG, IMO. Butler should be ahead of Harden. Barring other injury, I see:

Russ/Kyrie (over Dame, because of the Duke connection)
Klay/Butler
Durant/Kawhi/George
Lebron/Green
Cousins/Drummond

That's 11, with Dame/Harden/Melo/Love/Jordan all in the running for the 12th spot.
