Dame all but demanding vet roster (1 Viewer)

You're overthinking it.

Fine. I guess I have to break it down barney style for you.

Saying "we need to have a conversation" is different from saying "we need to have a different conversation" because a different conversation implies that you're already having a conversation. Would you not agree?

The current conversation being the one about how to improve the team using the assets that we have. If the team is unable to, or unwilling to, use those assets that Dame mentions to improve the team, the different conversation would seem to indicate exploring a trade out of Portland.

This is basically exactly what Haynes said yesterday.

Some people cant just agree to disagree and instead drill things so hard its annoying…and then they state they don't care they are being annoying, but cant understand why everyone is giving up the discussion with said person.

hmm…improving self awareness is always a good thing… if one is capable…

He didn't mince words.

actually, he did mince his words; and clarified why he was mincing; and he has minced plenty before. Dame minces words, all the time, like everybody alive does. Most of us just don't have microphones stuck in out face

Dame says he will ~'be a Blazer to start the season.'

IIUC, Dame can't be traded till July 10. The 2023/24 season starts July 1. Therefore....

Dame will be a Blazer to start the season.

There. Clear as can be. :bgrin:

I don't care if you leave the conversation. Do it at your leisure.

You're still talking about Brooklyn and Miami.

I'm talking about his statements about what he expects from the team and what will happen if we don't do what he expects. Those are different topics. I don't think he minced his words at all about what he expects. If I'm wrong, I welcome some evidence to the contrary.

will Lillard pull a KAT, milk an injury, and wait for a deadline or next summer trade?

We all know Damian is one of the top competitors in the NBA, but if Portland's continued goal is to lose games and draft the best rookies... why is Lillard here?

You're both misquoting him.

He didn't say "have a conversation."

He said, "give us what we need to have a true chance to compete for that. If that's something that isn't possible, or something that can't get done, then we got a different conversation to be had."

Not sure what more I can say if you think saying that they need to have a conversation is the same thing as saying "a different conversation (needs) to be had."

If I wasn't married and I wanted to propose to my wife, and we started talking about marriage. If I said to her, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but if that isn't possible, if that's something that can't get done, then we have a different conversation to be had." What would that imply?

Said my piece and am not going to get pulled onto a secret sidequest by you like the other day just so you can try to deflect from your poor position. I don't need to help you bury your bad takes and pollute the board and make other posters miserable in the process.

I will say this, though, Nate: It's amusing watching you dance back and forth between Mr. Take Every Letter Literally and This Is What Dame Meant Without Saying It from one post to the next as it suits you.

It's possible. It could also be that he'd want to know what the next steps forward would be to building a contending team come the trade deadline, etc.

I'm not comfortable saying definitively that if the Blazers use the #3 pick, that Dame will demand a trade. It could happen though. Dame hasn't said either way.

Because some of what Dame said is plain as day. He was extremely clear. He was very literal.

Some of it was vague.

But you have yet to post anything that counters my opinions. You claim evidence exists, but you don't post it. And when I called you out and asked you to deliver, you did not. You just ignored it.

its amazing me how little you are listening to yourself.
Its like a science peoject.

you obviously do care or you would be a le to move on. You care sooo much you have to rebuttal everything over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.. and then get butthurt when people decide to give up.

Maybe you shoild care about other peoples’ thoughts a bit more and you might find more reciprocating responses to your opinions.

you want everyone to listen to you but you dont care how you are coming across????

:beatinto:

This is getting out of hand. I dont want to put you on ignore but your selfish behavior leaves little choice….

Let's do the Time Warp again. This is essentially the same discussion I had with Nate yesterday or the day before.

Next I knew I was spammed with 15 quoted replies saying the exact same thing 15 times.

To me that completely ignores the tone of his statements. This isn't just text on paper. We have the advantage of being able to see Dame and hear Dame as he's saying these things.

Cool. I'll put you on ignore and you can put me on ignore and be done with it.

Ahh thats a pretty certain result you came up with based on opinions because what he says doesn't mean thats everything he thinks.
And really. If you read my post you would sew how i explained it would make much sense for him to be reevaluating his future. Only a fool wouldn't.
I dont see Dame as a fool.

Do i believe he wants to be here? Yes. Do i believe he is as certain he will remain here as in years past? Certainly not.
Of course he's not certain he'll be here. Jody and Joe could decide they don't actually care about winning. That would pretty much move Dame along...

ody and Joe could decide they don't actually care about winning.

They might decide they don't care about winning right now. They might decide they don't want to be another also-ran. They might decide they don't want to be another first-round victim. That doesn't mean that they don't care about winning.

I've seen all the interviews and I don't hear it the same way you do apparently. If you think it's a 100% lock, then that's your opinion, and he may prove you right the day after the draft. Based off everything I've watched, heard, etc. I'm not comfortable saying it's a certainty.

That Dame will request a trade?

I think it does. Most teams who hit the "reset" button don't win for nearly a decade. It's the right decision when you have no other options. We have other options. If Joe is capable at all we have the assets to be a HCA team next season.

I'm gonna be honest.... I don't think we will become a good team until Jody is gone. I don't think Jody is fully committed to winning. I think Joe wants to win very badly. I think if Paul was still here it would be different. It's very hard to get a read on what this team is actually doing right now. It seems like there's too many cooks in the kitchen.

Do you think Dame has been clear about what he wants?
I believe he wants to win a championship in Portland. I think that's clear, but if others hear differently, then I guess he hasn't been clear.

No, I mean what he expects out of this offseason. You don't think he has been clear?

Agree 100%. I don't think there is any way we wind up being a good team if Dame leaves. The only chance IMO is if Dame stays and Joe can work a miracle with the assets we have... hopefully in that time the NBA forces Jody to sell...

I don't know what he expects to happens this off-season. I believe he would like the franchise to move in a direction where the team is closer to contending than they have been in the last few years. Maybe that is what he expects?

That's a pretty damn low bar my man.

We have been a lottery team the past two years.

This is the part I guess baffles me about some of you guys. He comes out and makes some statements and you're like, "but we have no idea what Dame thinks!" It kinda feels like you're the clueless guy that has no idea that the girl likes him, and she has to strip down in your bedroom for you to finally think, "Oh maybe she likes me?"

If you think it's a 100% lock, then that's your opinion

Also, to be clear, I have never said that it's 100% a lock that he demands a trade. I have been saying that Dame has been clear on what he expects, and that he indicated that he would seek a conversation about potentially leaving the team if it's not possible or if the team doesn't use our assets to compete. I don't know what the outcome of that conversation will be, but that's the first time that he has actually said something that indicates that he would start a conversation about leaving the team.
