Lillard’s out of his mind if he thinks this team is a Siakam away from being decent.
I actually think we'd be decent... we were decent last year before we shut everyone down.

But I don't think we'll be good. And going from average to above-average while giving up our highest pick in over 15 years in a draft that has a clear top three guys is absolute lunacy.

Good and decent is like being in the friend zone.

If Scoot drops, it feels like the trade is going to be Simons/3 for Bridges/Claxton.

We then flip Nurk/filler for... whatever. I could still see us trading Nurk and pieces to Golden State for Draymond.

Dame
Bridges/Sharpe
Grant
Draymond
Claxton
God I wish people would stop saying the 'D' word.

Draymond would be annoying as hell, but i can’t deny that he would transform our entire defensive identity.

If Draymond came to Portland he would lead the league in Tech's. He would not be allowed to respond to the Ref's the way he is with Golden State.
I don't think his defense would be as effective either because I don't think he'd get away with the constant fouling he gets away with on the Warriors. Dray should stay put because he has a special deal with officials and I think any move could shake that up and render him a lot less effective.

And a scrap it down rebuild is like getting on tinder and swiping right on ever hottie out of your league thinking ones gonna wanna bang you.
It’s a risk, but a risk is better than status quo.

Let’s say they get a good young player or two for Dame…hypothetically. Make whatever team that wants him to facilitate a three way for a young player we like

Sharpe looks solid
Miller or Scoot are supposed to be legit
Ant and Nurk out for a young big and pick(s)
Sign Naz Reid

You start the building process like OKC did. Like GS did. You have to get lucky and you have to draft well

Sounds good I just don't think it is realistic. Getting good young players for Dame is much better than mediocre players or older players who have matching salaries just to get a bunch of future draft picks. The good young player we want though are really hard to pry away.

trade.jpg Just throwing this out there, but is there any chance that he would go, and they would trade for him, to OKC? They have a couple young players we could build with and a ton of draft picks. OKC could have a nice group with Lillard, SGA, Holmgren, and Giddey. They would have money to add free agents. I know it is way out there, but possible?

Just trying to kill a few weeks until things start up.

What OKC has available:

  • 2023 (1): 12
  • 2024 (4): Rockets (Top-four protected, Clippers, Thunder, Jazz (Top-ten protected) NOTE: The least favorable of these four picks will be sent to the Denver Nuggets)
  • 2025 (4): Clippers Swap rights, Heat (Lottery protected), 76ers (Top-Six protected), Jazz (Top-Ten Protected, unless previously settled)
  • 2026 (6): Rockets (Top-four protected), Clippers, Thunder, 76ers (top-four unless already settled), Jazz (top-ten, unless already settled), Heat (unless already settled)
  • 2027 (3): Nuggets (top-five protected), Thunder, 76ers (unless otherwise settled)
  • 2028 (1): Thunder
  • 2029 (2): Nuggets, Thunder

I actually appreciate Draymond overall but would put the chances of him being a Trailblazer next season at pretty close to zero. He's a restricted FA with a player option trying to leverage a very good season into a new contract with the W's. If he doesn't get one from them and he opts out, Portland is capped out and can't be a suitor. I guess they could work a Sign and Trade, but those rarely happen between regional rivals for obvious reasons and a necessary similar contract going back like Nurk's won't work as he's not their kind of 5... at all

this could only have become a riff because people are bored and/or want to bitch about something

I'd think after the Payton fiasco and the Warriors smear campaign against the Blazers, there's no chance at all the two organizations would deal with each other

He'd get the same deal with the refs in LA. Not here though.

for those interested he talks about Dame starting at about 1:55

(paraphrasing Windhorst)

"Right now I don't get the vibe that Dame Lillard is going to be available"

"I know people have put his name out front because of what he said at the end of the season, but in my conversations I'm getting the impression that Dame is still very committed to Portland and that the Blazers' moves that they are working on to support Dame are there and available"

"I would not put Dame at the front of any trade situations right now"

he talked some about Bradley Beal and his potential availability. He said if Beal was traded, the return would be low; Beal doesn't have good value around the league, in large part because the Wizards foolishly gave him a no trade clause. Beal has to approve any trade and that clause goes with him to the new team

he also talked about New Orleans and about how it was no secret they desperately want to move up in order to land Scoot. And that they'd have to make Zion available to do it. But, at the same time, Windhorst does not believe Zion has good value anymore because of injuries and questions about discipline and weight gain.

to me, this just seems like the kind of risk that Jordan would take in Charlotte. Zion for #2. And that's a kind of risk Portland would never take

I wonder what that would do to our plans if New Orleans jumps up to #2 and snags Scoot.

Vomit city

Don't know. I think the Blazers would be more likely to keep Miller than Scoot, assuming Miller is who Portland would select. I'm not persuaded much by all the Scoot hype. I think it's been overblown and I suspect there are agendas behind some of it, maybe most of it. Smoke and mirrors

I think it's entirely possible that Miller would be coveted by as many teams as Scoot, if not more. Not sure about teams with primary targets for the Blazers though

Hell ya! Those wanting to trade Dame and start a rebuild, should I get you tissues for your issues?
