Think guards and forwards should just be mixed. Positionless basketball.

This year gets even worse for Dame. Gets screwed to start the all star game, teams gets dominated by a injured riddled team in the playoffs, and now gets screwed as 1st team all nba.. At this point Dame probably can’t stand the Blazers

DAMIAN LILLARD NAMED ALL-NBA SECOND TEAM

Trail Blazers guard caps off 2020-21 campaign with sixth All-NBA honor

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 15, 2021)Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has been named to the 2020-21 All-NBA Second Team, the NBA announced today.

Playing in his ninth season, Lillard averaged 28.8 points (45.1% FG, 39.1% 3-PT, 92.8% FT), 4.2 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 35.8 minutes in 67 games (all starts) for the Trail Blazers. He set a franchise record for three-pointers made in a season (275) and logged 35 games of 30-plus points, also a franchise best. Among league leaders, Lillard ranked third in scoring, seventh in assists, second in free throw percentage, third in three-pointers made and third in free throws made (449).

It is the sixth time in his career that Lillard has been named to an All-NBA Team. Lillard was named to the All-NBA First Team in 2017-18, Second Team in 2015-16, 2018-19 and 2019-20 and Third Team in 2013-14. He is the only player in franchise history with six All-NBA honors and is the first Portland player to make an All-NBA Team in four straight seasons.

Lillard earned his sixth career All-Star nod this season and was named Western Conference Player of the Week three times. He was the only player in the league to average at least 28.0 points and 7.0 assists and became the second player in NBA history to record at least 1,500 points and 400 assists in each of his first nine seasons, joining Oscar Robertson.

The All-NBA Team was selected by a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. Players were awarded five points for each vote to the All-NBA First Team, three points for each vote to the Second Team and one point for each vote to the Third Team. Voters selected two guards, two forwards and one center for each team, choosing players at the position they play regularly. Players who received votes at multiple positions were slotted at the position where they received the most votes.

Don't forget, his woman had twins! TWINS! Double the diapers! Double the trouble? Double the crying!

Worst year ever!

You're right, I'm sure he hates this year.

Interesting that Paul got the nod over Booker who, in my opinion, is the straw that stirs the Suns drink. Paul has been great but they showed in the bubble that this team was going to be a force to be reckoned with last season without Paul.

Also find it fascinating that Donovan Mitchell didn’t even crack the 3rd team.

Luka is really good, but god damn that dude gets way too much credit. He hasn't had to earn shit. Dame had to earn his respect. Luka is the anointed one.

Luka is in his third season averaging 27.7/8.6/8.0 shooting .479 from the field and .350 from '3'....at age 21.
Dame in his third season averaged 21/6.2/4.6 shooting .434 from the field and .343 from '3'...........at age 24.

Not sure what Luka hasn't earned. He is producing at a generational talent level, barely old enough to buy a beer.

It wasn't even Dame's team in his third year. It's apples and oranges. As soon as LMA left, his averages shot through the roof.

I'll add, Luka is attempting 5 more shots per game than Dame did in his third season and his USG% is 36 while Dame's was only 26.9%.

It was Dame's team alright....it's why LMA left. Feel free to try to diminish what Luka is doing at such a young age. Will be interesting to see how that ages. Dame in his CAREER has yet to put up the numbers Luke did at age 21. It's not to belittle Dame at all....but Luka is crazy good very young.

I said he's a good player.... not sure how that's diminishing him. The guy is 6'8. Dame does what Luka does at basically 6'2.

Dame averaged more points on less shots, less USG%, and a better TS%. :dunno:

He's also doing it against defenses that are geared entirely to stop him, and at 6'2 that's a damn site harder to beat than a dude who's 6'8.

Dame is very good for his height....but I'll gladly take a taller player who impacts a game more. And pretty sure defense are geared to Doncic like they are to Dame. Dame has more talent around him than Luka does.

We're not talking about for our team though. We're talking about All-NBA. Dame scored more this year and he did it more efficiently than Doncic. Plain and simple.

The league LOVES anointing young stars early. I'm not saying Luka isn't deserving, because he is (Dame should be there over Kawhi( but if Luka were a 27-30 year old player, I don't believe he would have started over Lillard in the All-Star game or been named First Team All-Name the past two years over Dame.

The bigger/better question is why was Steph so unanimous? Dame's numbers from the past two years are so similar across the board, yet it was Dame who found a way to the postseason both years while Steph lost twice in the play-in. I realize it's a team sport, but it's frustrating seeing Steph get a pass due to past successes and still get the First Team nod over Lillard.
