Dame and CJ currently combine for 48.4 points a game on 46.5% shooting (42.6% 3Pt shooting). Even if we're at .500, the tandem seems strong.

Definitely. It's so much more efficient than Dame/Aldridge. Even though, we've hit a hiccup and are 4-4, I still maintain we are better than last year.Dame and CJ currently combine for 48.4 points a game on 46.5% shooting (42.6% 3Pt shooting). Even if we're at .500, the tandem seems strong.
I really don't think we are "better" in terms of ultimate wins/losses this year vs last. However I do think the style of play is better in the sense of matching our personnel and hopefully improving our playoff chances in the years ahead and for us fans enjoying that style of play. I also think not having LMA and having the ball stop there is better for Lillard and our overall offense in general. I think it's a matter of internal improvement and adding a few more key pieces thru trade/FA/draft. I really don't think we will make the playoffs this year but I can't rule it out, we have a very tough stretch of games ahead, that may tell us a lot more, lets wait for 20 games before try we make too many forecasts.Definitely. No surprise here. We should be used to HCP being wrong. Before the season, HCP said Lillard wouldn't play as well this year because all the defense would be focused on him with Aldridge not there. And yet, this season, Lillard has a career high PER of 26.4
So, just did a quick stat lookup regarding CJ/Dame's combined scoring this year. Currently, they're averaging a combined 45.8 ppg, which is basically their median as well--8 games combining for 45+, 8 games under 45 combined.
In the 8 games in which they've broken the 45 point plateau, we're 7-1
In the 8 games in which they've combined for under 45 points, we're 0-8

Exactly. There can be no debate that we need a third scorer, whether developed, drafted, traded, or signed.Yup. It's either feast or famine. That just shows the lack of scoring on our team.

Of course, Leonard was supposed to emerge this year as the third scorer. Maybe Plums will get more looks as the season progresses. At this point, I wouldn't even be picky, but ideally a really solid power forward would be nice. Or maybe Cousins

Streaky? CJ has actually been very consistent so far. He's had 4 games over 25 pts, and every other game has been between 15-21. He's had just two games below 38% FG. I'll take that kind of streaky any day.I really like Plumlee, but I don't really see him as a third guy. If he had a really solid mid-range shot or something, maybe.
Actually, what we need is a #2 scorer, because honestly I think CJ is too streaky to be the number two. He's an awesome number three. He's the Wes Matthews in this equation, but a much better all-around scorer than Wes.

He's waaaaaaaay more consistent than Dame.. Lillard's the streaky one.. If anything Cj needs to shoot more than Dame does
Streaky wasn't the right word. Experienced? I'd like to get a #2 guy who I know can put up 20+ points a night. We lost Aldridge and we still need to replace that production. How does CJ compare to Wes when Wes was ripping shit up?
Scoring and shooting wise, he's comparable or better; he's as efficient (PER-wise), but not as potent (ORtg/DRtg-wise). But versus last season Wes, he's giving us 5.5 points per 100 possessions more, but giving up 3 points per 100 possessions more... but still that nets out to 3.5 points per 100 possessions (or about 2.5 points per game) better.
I think he's a much better all-around scorer. Defensively we know he tries, but he's nowhere near as good as Wes. Still, I think CJ is a perfect third scorer. Now if we could just pry Cousins away from Sacramento.
Yeah, it just hit me that we're playing about like you'd expect for last year's team if LaMarcus was out. We have a first and third scorer working their asses off to hold down the fort while we wait for our injured player to return... in this case, we just need to get Neil to sign him.

God, I loved that show when I was a kid. Sheriff Lobo, Deputy Perkins...Damn that looks awful!![]()
Or draft him...... or trade for him.....![]()

this isn't true.
Actually, no.
In games over 45% FG shooting, its 6 to 8. In favor of Damian.
In games over 40% from 3, it's 7 to 8. In favor of Damian.
Neither one is more consistent than the other, and CJ is not "waaaaaaaay" more consistent than Damian.

How does that disprove streaky-ness? All that shows is that Dame has had more hot games, which actually proves streaky-ness more than disproves it.

Because if you have enough hot games, it stops being "streaky" and starts being "consistency."![]()
I'd say the fact that CJ has as many games under 45% (basically) as damian does, it proves they're both streaky.
