DAME COMING HOME?

Gotcha but I don’t wanna risk all our young assets and picks for Giannis if Dame is only “imaginary” 90%. We would need to see him play for 1/2 a season before pulling that trade or else we are just the Bucks from a few years back but older.

I get it. But we have a whole season for that. There's time. Giannis won't leave this season. He's under contract another 3 seasons.
This is something we need to play by ear.

I kinda feel like we got multiple time lines going again. You know what would make all this real weird? Convincing LeBron to lift his no trade clause to come here. I don’t want this just saying.
Funny thought. How would we even match his salary?

well, technically he does not need to hate Portland, just need to think that playing somewhere else is worth the security and income risk, which can happen if he can overcome it with larger endorsement and the location is convenient (For example, the NY market offers much better marketing opportunities and is much easier for travel to his home country).

yeah

not only that but the 5th year advantage might be overstated. Deni will be 31 when a 4th year ends, Unless he's planning on retiring, he would get that 5th season, and more from another team too. And his agent might advise him he'd have a little better chance at a larger contract 'last' contract when he's 31 than when he's 32

obviously there's some risk involved. The hypothetical 4th and 5th seasons are 7 and 8 years away. But if Deni is unsatisfied in Portland I don't believe that 5th year will give the Blazers much leverage. The 8% vs 5% step raise differential might be a bigger factor, but again, he'll be UFA and anything can happen

Incorrect. That is why we have had the same damn conversation over & over for the last 2 weeks.

I guess Blazers CAN resign him before he gets to UFA.... But the MAX they can offer him is 140% of his last year of his contract ($12M) or of the MLE of that season (~$17M). So the first year of his extension would be ~$24M/yr. That's the equivalent to a 4-yr - $100M contract.

The way Deni played last year, I'm guessing he is going to be paid more than that....

Yes - it was in the middle of the season. The bump to his salary was for that CURRENT year that he was playing.
I'm talking about how teams can re-sign guys who are about to become free agents, before free agency starts.

That’s fair. I guess there’s no reason to overthink it.
Just be you and do you.
Its much easier that way because:
- We dont have to act (we're not good actors)
- We dont have to plan any conversation
- It doesnt become stale like shows that use the same manufactured formula do

Much easier that way. So its funny to see people think we craft narratives for views. Kissing the organizations ass at every turn may have been better for us.

Teams can talk to their own player the week prior to Jun30 after the finals. The actual signing of contracts is the same time for all teams.

Father time and an Achilles rehab is going to be more like 75% Dame. Which is still great. I love the signing. Just temper expectations.
While I get the excitement of reattaining this all time Blazer great, could someone remind me of all the 30+ year old athletes who made it back to anything close to their former selves post torn Achilles? Do posters think Kobe didn't put his all into his rehab to explain why he wasn't close to the same? Temper expectations indeed.

Also, does anyone know whether Dame suffered a partial or complete tear because that seems to make a difference.

STOMP

Hell, show it to the whole damn team

Broussard, all of theme want Super Teams so bad. We've have a better roster for 26-27 than the Lakers or the Warriors. He's fn nuts
Maybe? I have a hard time believing the lakers won't make moves to put Luka in a winning situation. Same goes for the Warriors.
