DAME COMING HOME?

Celtics have won two titles since Bill Walton was on the team. Sure it's nice, but it's not like they've dominated the league.

Lakers have one title in the last 15 years. A half dozen teams have better rosters in the west today. OKC and SAS futures are much brighter.

Both franchises will yes always have some very good things going for them. But their just one of many NBA teams in the mix right now. They don't have any dominant advantage like in prior eras.

Not saying we're more likely to win a title than them. We probably have better youth/picks. They have other advantages as well as a proven star.

Just seems like with the modern NBA players, performance of deep teams, and 2nd apron cap rules it's opening up so tons of teams can become a contender more often than prior eras.
See this is the kind of delusion that makes me question the homers on here.
Trying to diminish one chip in the last 15 years but stopping short of including the two in a row 2009-10
And the three 8 years before that and the 5 in the 80s.
Both of those teams dominate then rebuild in a 3-5 year span continuously. Yes that means they have to wait 7-10 years between Championship runs.
Wish my team could say that.

I was commenting on the assertion Portland "cleared" the move with Scoot. Does that mean Scoot could have vetoed the signing? I'm not finding that very credible

No, the assertion was that he was "clued in and made sure he was cool with it" before it was going to happen and that Scoot was excited.

I would trade the lure of Los Angles with Portland any day yes. Has nothing to do with their roster and assets they have right now. You know this. Everyone knows this. Why are you even asking this question? The lakers will build a team around Luka of solid veterans that want to play for a championship in LA. And they will do it playing for the Vets minimum. We've seen this over and over again.

EL OH EL

The news was that Cronin had a meeting with Dame lasting several hours where they 'cleared the air' and reached a comfortable place allowing the two to agree on a contract. So then is the assertion that Cronin got the OK from Scoot before setting up up the meeting? That if Scoot had said he had issues with it Cronin would not have met with Dame?

does that seem credible to you? Or is it more likely that Cronin talked to Scoot afterward and told him he intended to sign Dame and Scoot said "yeah, that sounds good to me!"

I could see them taking Scoot's temperature to see how he feels, but I would be surprised if they asked him if he would be okay with it?

I could see something like "how would you feel if we brought Dame back?" To me that's not the same as "would you be okay if we signed Dame?"

I don't know if there's anything to tie Scoot to Portland sentimentally anyway. Nor, at this point, is there anything to tie Portland to Scoot.

If he takes a big leap forward this season, though, the Blazers might have to try extra hard to reinforce that bridge.

Scoot loves Atlanta...it's where his family gym is and I'll bet he'd love to be a Hawk all said and done..just like Ant would love playing in Orlando. We'll see but he didn't look good as a rookie until just recently.

I can only pray our biggest problem next season is having a hard time justifying Scoot not starting.

Great presser and it's a great day to be a Blazer! Happy to see Dame be so transparent and also put to rest this thought that he and Joe didn't like each other. I always thought that was probably horseshit.

Honest question, with Dame coming back now if we could turn Jrue into RJ would you do it? Obviously picks and salary would be included.

Scoot will start with Jrue I'd say and Shaedon or Deni will be the 6 man.
