It’s hilarious that a prospect has changed everyone’s stance on dame.
Dame deserves a competitive roster. He’s really never had one except for the Lamarcus years.

he carried shitty teams

gonna be really funny when he’s gone and we suck

People thinking we have more of a chance without Dame than with Dame are entitled to their opinion. Even if they are wrong! ;)

this isn’t nba2k….he was voted as a top 75 player of all time.
What are the chances scoot is voted as a top 100 all time? Probably less than 1%

just mind blowing how many people in here would rather do have scoot. Just shows nba IQ

Here’s what the franchise deserves: the flexibility to make decisions for the best interests of the franchise. Making Dame happy might feel good now but it will mortgage our next five years for a long shot at beating Denver in the West. I don’t blame the front office for hesitating or even flat out disagreeing.
"Mortgage our next five years", Oh my God! Are you freaking serious. 5 years is nothing in terms of the NBA. Sure if you have a disease, 5 years can , sadly , be all you have left. But NBA wise, it's a zit on the butt. Sacramento has been rebuilding for 16 years. The Blazers made it to the WCF within the last 5 years. Live in the now, build around special now.

It's the age-old issue many sports fans have. They typically under-estimate the value of the starting QB and over-estimate the potential of the backup QB.

Grass is always greener.
Ive brought it up before.. that Aesop's fable Bout the dog with the steak im his mouth on a bridge staring down at his reflection in the water.
The steak is bigger in the reflection, so he drops the steak he has to bite at the reflection and ends up with nothing at all.

bird in hand is worth two in the field right?

Very Nice.

The OP poster is flat out wrong and anyone who agrees with this horse shit is wrong too -- It blows my mind that some so called Blazers fans agree with this crap. Now while I say this a part of me kind of understands why some might want to just start over and think the cost of this will set back this franchise years and you know what it very well might. However at this point why not try cause the team and city has gone down the let's pin our hopes on draft talents see Roy , LA and Oden and that did not work out for various reasons. Dame is the best Blazer we have had since Drexler and will not go into who is better but I will say the one thing Dame has that we have not seen in a long ass time is killer instinct the type of player who would goes for the throat and rips it out. This is why Dame deserves a realistic chance at a ring and I think the reason some would rather go the other way is more tied to something else.

I think it's tied to the fact we have a owner who is not really an owner cause she will be required to sell the team let's say in the next 5 to 10 years and she is just collecting a healthy check because of it. We really have no idea how she really feels about the Blazers but we have read thing from Clownano and others recently but let's be honest we have no idea how much is true OR maybe was true at one point in time and now it's not or if all this is fiction or something in between. Then we have a GM that most would prolly grade him at average to piss poor so at least with prospects there is some hope someone MIGHT become a star over letting the GM have a say via trades and FA when that has not been his strong suite up until now.

Also the team has kind of painted itself into a corner where it kind of HAS to back Dame or the team looks like they are full of bullshit and liars since they have told him they would do this. IF for some reason they decided to keep the 3rd pick or just tell Dame sorry and trade him then name ONE player worth his salt who would want to come play for a team that lied to it's BEST player and someone who showed extreme loyalty and then got a big screw you and a bag full of lies. -- ANSWER -- NOT ONE F'ing player -

This is why so if fans cannot understand this then you need to look at yourself in the mirror and I could write this in crayon and you would still be just as clueless as you are now and goes to the saying I believe -- you cannot teach stupid and by god there are a lot of stupid fans.

You may not like what I just wrote but it's the truth maybe the hard and sad truth but it is the truth -- you can live with it and hope for the best or what will prolly continue is Summer Whine Fest 23'

Now you can flame me but again you cannot hide from the truth -- Go Blazers and I do hope the Blazers do not screw Dame cause that would fracture the fanbase and do so much harm that Jody might find it harder to get the price she is looking for and be begging Knight for the 2 Billion plus offer.

Nahhhhh..... you had me til you said Nurk and Nas deserved it as much as Dame,"all have sweated and sacrificed" YOU HAVE NEVER TYPED SOMETHING MORE WRONG IN YOUR LIFE FAMS!
Why is he owed it more? Why aren't they owed it? Why doesn't every friggin' guy who sweated his ass off to get into the NBA deserve a championship?

are you really dense enough to claim that Nassir Little means as much to the Blazer organization and Blazer fans as Damian Lillard?

Dame deserves the same respect he has shown this franchise. He has earned it. That does not infer a Championship.

Most fans are drama driven. That in itself, has changed sports reporting...... into drama reporting.

Most people read what they seek. They translate the info they see, into something more dramatic than the reality....most of the time.

The enquirer magazine is a perfect example. They simply provide dramatic headlines, and fans of that drama take the info and run with it. ESPN has moved this direction every year since it's inception.

Uh....that is not what @Stevenson said at all. Guess it's not just my posts that get responded to attributing something they didn't come close to saying to their exact post just above the response.

Oh calm down.

First of all, I'm going to make a bet that nobody in Sacramento is happy about their 16-year rebuild.

Secondly, "special now" is basically over, and has been since 2020. Dame is starting to miss games, but he's too important to miss games because we can't win without him. Nurk can't stay healthy and we can't win without him. We are too many pieces away and we don't have the pieces in our possession to pay for what we need. Dame isn't going to lure a free agent here. We aren't going to get assets in a trade guaranteed to make us better. We don't have a coaching staff that can make the sum greater than its pieces. We don't have a front office able to work miracles.

We will very likely not succeed if we build around special now. This is a very long shot that will leave us holding the bag on flabby has-beens and large salaries for years afterward if it collapses. I know it's cold, but I'd much rather see young players who are on their way up play than watch the plateau and decline of the rented veterans we gave up our young players for. We tried that in the past (Marcus Camby, Raymond Felton, Jamal Crawford)... Those are my least favorite teams.

It's just personal preference; neither of us have 0.000% of a say in how this will go.

just who the hell around here said Dame was owed a championship? The title of the thread is a straw man

what people have said, rightly, over and over, is that Dame has been owed a better performance by Portland's GM than he has received. That it's not unreasonable to expect the organization to make one honest effort to put a contender around him since it has NEVER done that. That his accomplishments and loyalty to the franchise deserve that one effort. And what exactly is the difference between "contender" and a "shot at a championship"...it's the same thing for fucksakes

you can try and argue the semantics, but don't try and sell the bullshit about the Blazers owing Little as much as they owe Dame to me.

It's amusing how much foul language some people have to use to try to make a point. Expected better. Am learning that perhaps I shouldn't. And it still wasn't what @Stevenson said and I've learned from many responses that someone will post something and then someone will attribute something else that they didn't say at all. It's pretty lazy, but sadly, happening more and more.

I fuckin love using colorful language when I'm trying to make a point!
