Don't get me wrong Jfizz.....I love Duncan's game...always have..but somebody is going to come along and have an equally stellar career at some point

Duncan was a champ, a all defensive first teamer, finals mvp, and all nba first teamer by year three.

If you think lillard has a chance at being as good as Duncan, well, more power to you.

I'll add that Duncan is arguably the best PF in the history of the league. Gotta love Dame, but seriously, he's not in the discussion for best anything for a season, let alone career.
 
If the Blazers don't acquire another salary to put them over the minimum, everyone on the team will get a very nice bonus this summer, so I can imagine that they are are crossing their fingers that we don't make a trade.
 
Notice the first to accomplish in NBA history, first since Oscar Robertson and Iverson to get 1500pts and 500 assists as a rookie...etc....Dame has actually done some things Duncan never accomplished early in his career.
Portland Trail Blazers (2012–present)[edit]
2012–13 season: Rookie of the Year[edit]

Lillard was drafted with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. On July 13, 2012, he signed his rookie scale contract with the Trail Blazers[12] and went on to earn co-MVP honors in the NBA Summer League with averages of 26.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists. On October 31, 2012, in his NBA debut against the Los Angeles Lakers, Lillard recorded 23 points and 11 assists. He joined Oscar Robertson and Isiah Thomas as the only players in NBA history with at least 20 points and 10 assists in their NBA debuts.

During NBA All-Star Weekend, he participated in the Rising Stars Challenge and won the Taco Bell Skills Challenge. On April 10, 2013, Lillard scored a season-high 38 points in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Later, he was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in April and swept the Western Conference Rookie of the Month awards for the entire 2012–2013 season.

Lillard averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.1 rebounds on the year and set an NBA rookie record for three-point field goals made with 185. He joined Oscar Robertson and Allen Iverson as the only rookies in NBA history to record 1,500 points and 500 assists in a season, and became just one of two Trail Blazers to ever finish with 1,500 points and 500 assists in a season (Clyde Drexler being the other).[13] He was named the unanimous Rookie of the Year and became just the fourth rookie to win the award unanimously joining Blake Griffin (2011), David Robinson (1990), and Ralph Sampson (1984).[14]

2013–14 season: First All-Star selection[edit]
On September 30, 2013, the Trail Blazers exercised their third-year team option on Lillard's rookie scale contract, extending the contract through the 2014–15 season.[15]

On January 7, 2014, Lillard scored a season-high 41 points in a loss to the Sacramento Kings, including 26 points in the fourth quarter; a franchise record for most points scored in any quarter.[16]

Lillard was voted in by the coaches to participate in his first All-Star Game. He became the first player in NBA history to take part in five events during NBA All-Star Weekend. Lillard was in the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night, the Skills Challenge, Three-Point Shootout, and Dunk Contest on Saturday night, and the All-Star game on Sunday night.[17] He teamed up with Utah Jazz guard Trey Burke in the Skills Challenge and won first place.

Lillard averaged 20.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds on the season and helped lead Portland to a 54-28 record. Portland finished fifth in the western conference and would meet the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2014 NBA playoffs.

On April 20, 2014, in a game one victory over Houston, Lillard recorded 31 points, 5 assists, and 1 turnover. He became the first player in NBA history to register 30+ points with only one turnover in their playoff debut. On May 2, 2014, in game six of the series, Lillard hit a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to clinch the series and send the Trail Blazers to the second round. Portland won the series against Houston 4-2 and would make their first second-round appearance since 2000.[18] Lillard joined Ralph Sampson, Michael Jordan, and John Stockton as the only players in NBA history to make a game-winning buzzer beater to clinch a playoff series.[19]

Portland would go on to lose to the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs in the conference semi-finals. Lillard averaged 22.9 points, 6.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds for the playoffs. On June 4, 2014, he was named to the 2014 All-NBA third team for the first time in his career.[20]

2014–15 season: Second All-Star selection[edit]
On September 29, 2014, the Trail Blazers exercised their fourth-year team option on Lillard's rookie scale contract, extending the contract through the 2015–16 season.[21] On December 19, 2014, Lillard scored a career-high 43 points in the Trail Blazers' 129-119 triple overtime win over the San Antonio Spurs.[22] On February 8, 2015, Lillard was selected as the replacement for the injured Blake Griffin in the 2015 NBA All-Star Game.[23] On March 4, 2015, Lillard recorded a career-high 18 rebounds in a 98-93 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.[24] The Blazers finished the season with a record of 51-31, which was good for the fourth seed in the Western Conference. They faced the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs where they lost the series in five games.

2015–16 season[edit]
On July 9, 2015, Lillard signed a five-year, $120 million contract extension with the Trail Blazers.[25][26] On October 28, 2015, Lillard recorded 21 points and 11 assists in a season-opening win over the New Orleans Pelicans. His one three-pointer made during the game was his 600th career three-point field goal, making him the fastest NBA player in history to reach the mark at 247 games. In addition, Lillard's 11 assists gave him 1,500 for his career, making him the fastest Trail Blazer to reach the milestone since Terry Porter (1987–88 season, 215 games).[27] In the following game on October 30 against the Phoenix Suns, Lillard became the fastest player to reach 5,000 points and 1,500 assists (248 games) since Derrick Rose (240 games).[28]

On December 12, in a loss to the New York Knicks, Lillard became the first Blazer since Clyde Drexler in 1991–92 to record 600 points and 150 assists during the team's first 25 games.[29] On December 21, Lillard missed the first game of his career with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, ending his streak of playing in 275 consecutive games. Backcourt partner C. J. McCollum also missed the game, leaving the Trail Blazers without their two leading scorers to face the Atlanta Hawks, subsequently losing the game 106–97.[30] He missed a further six games with the injury, returning to action on January 4 against the Memphis Grizzlies and recording 17 points and 7 assists in a 91–78 loss.[31] On January 8, he scored a season-high 40 points in a loss to the Golden State Warriors.[32] On January 18, in a win over the Washington Wizards, he hit his 2,000th NBA field goal, one of only eight players to reach that mark since he entered the league in 2012–13.[33] On January 26, in a win over the Sacramento Kings, Lillard recorded 15 points and 13 assists for his 10th double-double of the season, a career-high.[34]
 
Dame is special...and none of it is me saying he's better than Duncan but the fat lady hasn't sung yet..
 
I think the debate is sort of like comparing Michael Jordan to Steph Curry....you can't do it until Curry retires to make a fair comparison

Dame is in Andre Miller territory, not Isaiah Thomas...
 
In NO WAY is this to take anything away from Tim Duncan who is arguably the best PF in NBA history. However.....one thing he had that few other #1 picks have is another #1 pick (that was also a big man) that is still in their prime to mentor, take off the pressure, let them develop and show them every bit of the ropes. That is a perfect storm for a top pick and helped him to develop into the player he could be.

Few other players have that type of mentor support so it is difficult to compare successes both personally and from a team standpoint. What you do want is for your best player to have a drive to be better, to be a leader and to enjoy the work it takes to succeed. In that case, Portland is in good hands.
 
Dame deferred to LA for 3 seasons...he's now the number 1 option..he's just getting started and Dame is doing things Dre has never accomplished..Dame is a lot more Isiah Thomas than Andre Miller...I'll argue that point forever

Great for Ben Gordon but he's essentially CJ McCollum, not Damian Lillard...Ben Gordon never led a team in his career...but was a great player for a spell. The point is you said Dame never won anything and sorry, you're wrong...no knock on Ben Gordon...he earned that award too
 
Just out of curiosity, not saying we should ever ever do it, but what kind of trade could we make with Damian?

My guess is not as much as wee would want. Realistically, I think he would garner a Kris Middleton.. and a first type of thing.... POSSIBLY a KAT(likely cost us a pick as well). But anyone who says we could get Giannis or Harden or AD is out of their mind in my opinion. As wrong as I wish my opinion were.
 
I am wondering since the kings are dumb enough of a franchise that they would trade Fox, Bagley, and Barnes to match salary. Also 2021 1st round pick
