In all seriousness, like I've mentioned before, PDX will never contend with this backcourt, and I personally think CJ is a better player, and Dame has higher trade value. Time to break this duo up.
Why can't this backcourt contend? They've shown that they can be part of an elite defense and carry a bunch of mediocre role players.

Do it for Dame. Let him get his shine
But why stop at Dame? Let's get every small-market star and trade them all to a big team! Let's have ONE GIANT SUPERTEAM and have it play the G-League every game so those poor NBA players never have to lose! It's the only fair course of action.

What's going on here? what is this thread about ?

Basically some dude on twitter tweeted this:
I swear if @Dame_Lillard was in any other market y'all damn well would appreciate his greatness like me instead of keep sleep on it.

Then Lillard responded with:
I play the hand I was dealt bro. But I appreciate you fasho

Jason Quick most likely misinterpreted the "y'all" in the initial tweet as Portland fans and/or media, when it appears the guy may actually be speaking to the national audience instead.

That's how I've read it anyway.

“Portland gets no respect so I get no respect but I’m not about the love from folks who only see shiny things. I got drafted by Portland, I’m loyal to the team and city who believed in me. I’m not seeking another market just to get love.”

Great post.

Some people look for any and every reason to suggest a player (in this case Damian) isn't happy in Portland.

Sometimes it is true, and maybe its true enough that it can feel justified, but it only creates a sell fulfilling prophecy. There is a lot of victim complex going on in Portland/Oregon sports, coupled with unrealistic expectations.

That doesn't mean that Damian is reading this message board or twitter and thinking "fuck this shit, I want out of Portland", nor does it mean that other athletes are doing the same. I think that people who report on Portland (for us, and to us) are sometimes acting in their own self interests (hits, $$, etc) at the detriment to portland as a city.

I.e., the whole "it rains here too much" for people who enjoy it/bring baseball here, or that there's nothing to do here (they're out of the state half the time and the other half of the time they're working).

There comes a point where you just stop worrying about this crap, because someone is going to spin it negatively no matter how much effort you put into pointing out their full of shit.

This is a lot of ink over nothing. SMH

Well we tried already with Lillard. He’s almost 30 let him go have some shine

The guy who tweeted that is some random cat with under 200 followers. I wish Dame wouldn’t even pay these people no mind. As far as Dame saying he plays with the hand he is dealt, that isn’t a negative thing. Just like he blasted these players who switch teams when things don’t go well......he’s saying that’s not him, that’s not his style. He sticks with his boys thru thick and thin. That’s how I took it.

Maybe his shine is being loyal and getting what he gets while being loyal? Do you ever think about that? I mean, you don't because you're a one track mind, but I want to give you the benefit of the doubt.

It is nearly unequivocal that Dame woulda been an all star the last two years if he played in NY/LA/etc. This is much ado about nothing. Questioning Dame's loyalty is a reach, at best.

How does a simple tweet that basically means: "I'm not a whiny-ass bitch, I man up and make the best of whatever situation I'm in", get twisted to mean: "I'm unhappy", followed by the manufactured assumption that there's trouble in stump town?

:dunno:
