Still trying to figure out where it happened.

Coincidentally, Dame strained his right calf in 2018. He had missed 5 games and about 2 weeks at the time with a hamstring strain. Came back and injured his calf 3 games later and missed 2 more games.

...hopefully they do get an MRI just to be sure here, despite Super Dame shrugging off imaging by declaring he'd play thru it if the playoffs. How did KD get hurt again?
My thoughts exactly. Calf injury turning into achilles tear has happened a few too many times for me to not immediately fear the same for Dame.

I’m sure they will, probably already have.

I don't know how often it happens; the only name I'm recalling right now is Durant

but I do know, from personal experience, that a too-tight and inflexible gastrocnemius muscle can stress the Achilles. And stress can cause tears. That happened to me. I had three tiny tears of my Achilles where it anchors to the gastroc muscle. It was extremely painful. So the surgeon opened up the back of my leg (small incision) and circumcised about 60% of the muscle sheath around the gastroc muscle, then dorsal-slexed my foot to stretch the gastroc, relieving some of the tension on the Achilles. I was in a walking boot for about 4 weeks that kept my foot dorsal-flexed so the stretching of the gastroc became the new normal

but I'm not an athlete; I was just some aging clown who didn't want to walk around in pain. I asked the surgeon about NBA players who have the surgery and never return to form. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, that it is common in those surgeries that besides repairing the tear, they also stretch and lengthen the gastroc to prevent future injury. The problem is that without that exact tension, reaction time and lift is compromised. It's not the same leg it was. ever again

so yeah, it would not be good if Dame risked tearing his Achilles

How much should the “If it were the playoffs” actually be a thing?

Always a tough decision.

Brandon Roy is on line 1.
We're not talking about a knee injury, we're talking about a tight calf. A tight calf that he's saying he's played through before but didn't think it was necessary this early in the season. Everyone on here needs to stop acting like they can feel what Dame is feeling or know anything about what's going on with his body. Could he come back and blow out his Achilles? Yeah, I guess that's a possibility but the much more likely possibility is that Dame and the training staff know his body and when they say the calf is day-to-day that means everyone in here that is getting worked up, is doing so about nothing.

Back in 2 weeks at least. Nobody is rushing him back.
So maybe back in the middle of the back to back @NOP. We could definitely use him if that team is as good as you think they are. That would put him out for 6 games. We could easily go 3-3 in that stretch. Or 0-6, who knows.

When it comes to hamstrings and injuries like this….I always expect them to miss the longest amount of time the press release claims. I won’t expect him back in 1 week.

Dame will be evaluated 1-2 weeks… losing streak starts now.

In the long run, if Sharpe gets some serious minutes, by hopefully starting, this could speed up his development, and that's a very good thing. Bottom line, we need Dame back at his peak performance level.
He better get some serious minutes. Nobody else has outplayed him that would be in his spot.
It's a no-brainer that Sharpe should be starting at the 2 or 3. Forget about short-term wins and bench scoring. This team needs another star who can and will dribble through half-court traffic and finish.

Do you mean like Nas did last night? I am fine with SS starting, but it doesn't make any difference if he starts or comes off the bench....as long as he is getting minutes.

Or Sharpe could explode as a star in that time by getting way more playing time and a green(er) light.

But it might matter to his mental maturing. Thats another level of confidence required at his age and infancy to the nba.
Lets see where he lands out of the gate against other starters. im all for starting him.

gastro what??? dorsa what???

This may be a load management move to help jumpstart Ant after his sluggish start first 3 games..get his confidence at a high level and then bring Dame and Payton into the mix a couple weeks in.
