12.5 spread over the length of his deal I am pretty sure. So like 2.5 a year. This year or all deferred? IOW: does it hurt our cap space?

Yes. But I think Neil basically knew this was going to happen after the streak Dame went through directly following the All-Star Break. So we have 2.5 less to spend this year? Not sweating it, but I want to make sure I'm reading this all correctly.
The extra $2.5M added to next year's salaries will definitely have an effect if we plan on going after a max salaried player.
Considering all of the CAP holds, we have about $4.2M of space.
- Release Kaman, gives us $10.7M.
- Release Henderson, gives us $19.7M.
** The max for a 0-6 yr vet like Whiteside will be approximately $21.5M.
- Release Roberts, gives us $23.4M.
** The max for a 7-9 yr vet like Horford will be approximately $25.9M.
- There are minimum 12-man roster holds, so release Montero & Alexander (minimum) doesn't give us any extra room.
~ The only remaining non-guaranteed contracts/holds are Leonard ($7.7M), Harkless ($7.2M), and Crabbe ($2.7M).
Hopefully we have the opportunity to make those tough decisions this summer.
Someone who isn't a butt-hurt 14-year-old girl?
So releasing everyone but Meyers, Moe and AC gives us 23 mil of capspace. The extra $2.5M added to next year's salaries will definitely have an effect if we plan on going after a max salaried player.

Done deal.
Horford was a long shot to begin with. Dwight might be possible. Whiteside of course.
I think those numbers by @42N8Bounce above about 4 responses are cap holds. So only if you think Harkless and Leonard sign for less than 7 MIL right away. Crabbe is obviously getting way more than 2.7 so his hold is fine at that level.Won't just signing them to reasonable contracts will free up $$ too? Cap holds are what, 150% of the contract they could get or some stupid shit?

I know, right? It's kind of funny that you're the one who said that, because you either blindly love of blindly hate players like a irrational 14 year old girl at times.
That a possibility, but my guess is that with the insane amount of money out there, these guys will be getting at least their CAP holds.Won't just signing them to reasonable contracts will free up $$ too? Cap holds are what, 150% of the contract they could get or some stupid shit?
Wouldn't a 0-6 player fit in with our age curve anyway?Really makes you think our target has always been a 0-6 Max Player, rather than a 7-9 or 10+ Max Player.

Just imagine what Dame could accomplish if he could perform at a level that Tunchi would find acceptable.
Yep. You're looking at guys like Whiteside (age 26), Biyombo (age 23), and Ezeli (age 26). Whiteside is really the only guy in that group I think justifies the max. Heck, Biyombo might get that with his recent playoff performance.Wouldn't a 0-6 player fit in with our age curve anyway?

Woo hoo! Post 1,001. Now I'm officially a big time nerd like most of this group. It only took me since Dec 2011 to get this many posts. Now I can finally stop focusing on volume posting, and start focusing on only posting quality content.![]()
My votes would be:
1st team
Steph, Russel, LBJ, Green, Cousins
2nd team
Dame, Kley, George, Milsap, Drummond
3rd team
Lowry, Derozan, Leonard, Durant, Duncan
Wouldn't a 0-6 player fit in with our age curve anyway?
LOL No Paul? He is easily the best 2 way PG guard in the league.

No Harden or AD.
Wow.
DeMarcus Cousins?I think the All NBA voting is starting to reward team success, the way MVP voting always has. There isn't a single player on the three all NBA teams that didn't make the playoffs. I'm fine with that. HOU severely underachieved and a lot of that was Harden's lack of leadership, poor defense and inability to play nice with others.
It does beg the question, when was the last time a player finished 2nd in the league in scoring, but didn't even make 3rd team All NBA?
BNM
Or the last time a healthy player didn't make the all-star team and was an NBA second team selectionI think the All NBA voting is starting to reward team success, the way MVP voting always has.
