Not to mention his quote specifically about not trying to influence the FO.

Damian Lillard said:
I don’t take a stance of power, I guess. If they ask me something, I’ll give them the answer. I’ll tell them what I really think. I’m not in there trying to make a decision or anything like that. I do my job. If something’s presented to me or a question is asked to me, I give an honest answer. I try not to be a part of the player empowerment because we’ve seen enough situations where guys who were at their peak and at the top of their game had that power and influence, and when they weren’t at that level anymore or the back end, people remember that.

Good find--thanks for sharing.

This won’t get clipped or talked about, sadly. Lol
That's because it won't meet their narrative. The majority of people i talk to think it's foolish to move on from Dame. But there's outspoken minority that wants to go all Morton Downey Jr. on the radio, in Tweets, and in Blogs. And they're the first to say, being behind Dame is delusional, but they are just stating the absolute facts. Dame is a top 10 player, All NBA Talent, but that don't mean squat. But some unproven youngster is the almighty , sure thing.

For the Blazers to get better, friends/teammates need to be traded. I am guessing he does not want to be asked who to get rid of.
Or at least he doesn't want anyone to know he gave his ok. That would be unpleasant for any player.

He can give a "safe" answer by saying trade anyone who gives us the best return. He posted on IG something like, you have to make heart-breaking choices to get better

Dame is a smart dude!
He’s not asking out!
Tell me why he would other than cShip?

I am not going to read too much into it accept one thing and not really tied to the interview but the fact he was at the team practice facility . I know prolly not a big thing but IF the blazers told him we are for sure keeping the pick then he might try and distance himself from the team even just a little. My guess is this is what is going on and unlike in the past I do think this is true but they are telling him they are trying but as of now no real offers have come in at least one's they consider worth it. The problem is not as much the 3rd pick it's Ant who would need to be a part of most deals to get done. This being the case your not only giving up on Scoot but Ant and the value together is a Top 20 ish type player and getting even 90% of that value right now is tough for so many reasons. This is the real reason we keep hearing the Blazers are content on keeping the pick it's not cause they do not want to trade it more like no offer is even close to consider trading such a package. I will say this unless it's Zion or Brown there is no other realistic player worth those parts. It's for this reason IF we see a trade I think it will end up being a 3 to 4 team trade cause right now no one team can really match the value like I said of 3 and Ant -- simple as that.

Dame already knows the plan. It's in place. Gotta be.

This isn't going to sit well with the Tin Hat, let me impose my will upon you and my opinion is the only one that is right folks.

LOVE TO SEEE IT

Yes it does because of his previous comments. HES NOT INTERESTED IN REBUILDING….which is probably best for the team long term. Basically he is saying “your choice, but if it’s youth, I’m out”

Agree with MM. Plus...

In this interview, Dame does not threaten to leave, but, he also did not promise to stay, when given the opportunity.

When asked where he sees himself in 5 years. Dame's answer, playing pp and scoring 25. All Dame had to add was "for the Blazers.

Dame can shut down all of the drama about his being traded by simply saying he wants to retire a Blazer. Instead he is keeping all options open, which is a good business strategy, for himself.

I don't disagree that Dame may ask out (or Portland may want to move him) if we once again fail to put a contender around him.

However, in the past he's said over and over he wants to be in Portland, retire a Blazer, etc. and the drama has still continued. So there is proof that him saying those things doesn't shut down the drama.

And there is nothing wrong with that. At all. He wants to win and is still one of the premier point guards in the league. There is nothing wrong with him wanting to be in a situation where the team is trying to win.

What we know

Dame does not want out of Portland.

Dame wants to win a title

Dame does not want more youth

what we assume….logically

Dame will ask out if more youth

Dame is wrong thinking we have assets to turn us into a contender

Despite the roster, Billups isn’t the guy

Summary

Dame does not want to leave Portland but him saying he is not interested in adding more youth, and if we do there will be a discussion. That is Dame saying DO NOT USE THE PICK TO DRAFT A YOUNG PLAYER OR I WILL ASK OUT

This quote? If you really read it it's clear what he's trying to say.

Doesn't where you elect to live and raise your kids matter? How many in here have turned down a nice job or promotion because you didn't want to relocate? As long as the blazers want to build around Dame I really think he won't ask out. Sure the Blazers my elect to go in different directions, but I doubt it at least through his contract. His wife owns a business here and for many families the partner has a big say in things.

Nothing super ground breaking but he gives a little info about the workouts.

You’ve been busy this summer at Portland’s facility this summer watching some of the top prospects doing pre-draft workouts. Which player do you like in the draft if you guys stay at No. 3, and how can he help immediately?

Damian Lillard: Usually, when I’m there, I’m getting my workout early in the morning. When I’m heading out, the draft workouts are starting. I’ll sit there and watch some. I think they’re all super talented. The ones that I’ve seen are really talented. I think everyone that I’ve watched is considered a Top 7 pick. They all have the talent and ability to do it. There’s hype around all of them. I don’t really get into whether this guy can do this or that. They all have things they do well, and it’s like any other draft. You’ve got guys at the top who are expected to come in and do something. You never know until you get out there and can see it. I wish them all the best. We’ll see when it’s time to get out there.

So because he doesnt say it for the 100th time the other 99 times he says it just magically becomes null and void? like wut.

I think it's more like, "would you want to sleep with a beautiful model?" "What about if they're absolutely no consequences?"

This response seems so much more tight lipped than in the past few interviews.

If Portland came to you and asked what should we do with the No. 3 pick and Jerami Grant’s free agent deal, what do you tell them to make them into the championship-caliber team you want them to be?

DL: I’d say whatever you guys think is best.

What you think you know. Dame is too smart to provide an ultimatum like that. The situation is complex. We could be lowballed for Scoot, his value could grow exponentially this season, hell he could surprise us all and make the team way better.

This Dame quote is a full reverse and either signifies that the team has finally done what Dame has wanted for so long and will land him someone he sees as on his level to play with at a position of need or that he's fucking done with this team.
